They still sell the 30W charger in the EU. Where they also don't sell the new one, since it's not compatible with EU sockets.

Apple this week stopped selling its 30W USB-C Power Adapter, despite its online store indicating that the charger is still included with the base 13-inch MacBook Air and the Apple Vision Pro. It is unclear why the adapter is no longer sold separately.

It probably makes no sense to sell it.

Those who have a machine that uses it already have it. All recent machines can charge faster with a larger capacity charger. So probably most people aren't buying a second small charger, they're buying a higher capacity one.

underrated feature of having a removable duck head (thats what the prongs are called) is that you can use the extension cable. I dont use the extension cable often but its nice to have.
Came here to say the same thing. Not just the extension cord when needed, but for use outside North America- being able to snap on a UK or EU, etc. duckhead is quite convenient.

It makes sense to discontinue the 30 W charger, considering it was nearly the same size as the new 70 W charger…

I really don’t like the form factor of the new 40 W charger or the dual 35 W charger though. So unless Apple releases a new charger in the 40 W range with the same form factor, I’ll probably stick with a 70 W charger for everything.
They have a dual 35 W charger with a duckhead...

My wife's recent M4 Macbook Air 13" came with he 35w dual port charger, it has the base chip, but did have a RAM and storage upgrade.

The 40W adapter is actually the 30W adapter just being firmware updated to remove the limitations. It actually performs to 60W.

Not a squircle, as the sides have no roundness to them—just the edges. They are simply round rects, or in this case a rounded cuboid as it is 3D.
Thanks, good to know! Are the iPhone icons in iOS 26 considered squircles, or are they rounded rectangles too? They seem more curved than the old ones

I just like how the chargers have a similar shape to iOS icons, esp my little 12W guys :)

This is why it’s no longer sold separately.

Hearing from industrial rumor is that MacBook Airs and Vision Pro will soon start shipping with new chargers included. They are shipping with old 30W Charger for now until supplies run out.
Oh yeahhhh, this would be perfect for charging the Vision Pro.

And, it’s one of the few chargers that actually negotiates power allocation gradually when a new device is connected instead of just cutting power and renegotiating.

I think the chargers are made with a specifically different design requirement. They’re trying to fit a lot of tech in a small space, so they go with round rectangles. Just lined up my 35W dual charger against my iPhone and you see how far off from squircle they are. Lining up the iPhone and the iPad, though, still squircles.

Not sure how they’re playing with the icon shape, but interesting thing to search for on a Sunday :)

Wow so cool. This certainly makes me more happy to still have mine! Got it for I think my 8 plus that could fast charge. Good old lighting to usb C cord needed. Or maybe it was 12pro IDK…I actually use my 2-piece 10 watt Apple power adapter with USB A to usbc cord more for nice slow charging to go easy on my battery. Yes I have AppleCare + but I’m still picky about my charging.

And that usb A cord is not Apple cuz at the time they didn’t have one on their website…or no I think I got it from Apple but it’s not an Apple cord cuz they didn’t make an A - C cord at the time..possibly still don’t. Hm
