Im getting "this iphone could not be restored, the device isnt eligible for the requested build".

I'm using the restore function in iTunes, iTunes downloads the latest software but cannot procede to the restore. Very annoyed at Apple's stupid DRM that isn't working. This is a plain vanilla iphone4, no JB.

And you're sure you are not trying to install a beta of iOS?

my iPhone 4 is acting wonky (airtunes stopped working)

I want to restore it to factory settings to try it that way and see if it comes back

I am hitting the restore button and letting itunes do its thing to restore it. Exactly how it should be no JB. Very frustrating, as the phone is fine otherwise. Airtunes just stopped working a few days ago.

Make sure you have latest version of iTunes. Also, try the "shift + restore". Download the firmware from apple website.
