Why is my SE1 only worth $25?
Sorry, the original SE is now 5 years old and almost out of iOS support. It has little refurbishment or resale value to Apple, hence the low trade-in value, especially 4-5 months post intro of the iPhone 12’s. Best to see if you can sell it privately and use the proceeds to help pay for a new one (iPhone 12 mini?).
********, my friend. 3x increase of sales in US alone, out of which 40% from S21 Ultra.
According to a new report, sales of Samsung's Galaxy S21 series have tripled compared to the flop that was Galaxy S20.

Galaxy S20 sales estimated May 26, 2020 at 8.2M units after 3 weeks on market, weighed down by Covid pandemic, high price, and down economies worldwide. That was 30% down from S10 series, which was down from S9,S8 and S7 predecessors. They couldn’t even outsell any of the iPhone 11 or even the new SE 2020 during the launch month.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 series sold over 30% less units than the Galaxy S10 during the first quarter. Samsung did, however, have the most popular 5G smartphone globally.

My research suggest they sold no more than about 25-28M S20 series total for 2020-2021 and as usual, had to resort to huge discounts, bundles and BOGOs to move inventory. This, because of slack demand and maybe over pricing, Samsung had NO pricing power in the high end. Same went for the Note 20 series, Samsung already says they only sold about 10M total, barely keeping pace with past versions, and now they look like they will drop the Note series entirely.

Samsung could see a drop in sales of both its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series of handsets, but it might not matter that much

so for the S21, Samsung had to cut prices, remove the chargers, and offer huge trade-in and incentives to achieve these “good” initial sales numbers, yet there’s a lot of general disappointment with the S21 model on Android sites and sales, although better than the S20, aren’t even up to the Galaxy S8 for a comparable tome period. And again, Samsung has the S21 series now heavily discounted and incentivized, undercutting their pricing power. Little trumpeting from Samsung for the 2nd full month of flagship sales bodes poorly too.
This report from Korea’s “The Elec” states that Samsung only sold 26M S20’s and Samsung is not ordering much more than that for all of 2021 (inventory control) unless the S21 becomes a big hit. Usually, Samsung flagships sell best in their first 3 months then hit summer doldrums as new iPhone speculation ramps up and continued iPhone model strength plus continued Android competition saps the high end Android market.
Samsung Electronics is estimating that it will ship around 26 million units of its Galaxy S21 smartphone series this year, TheElec has learned. The figure is conservative as its Galaxy S20 series so...

My research suggests the Android high end and premium/Ultra Premium (Fold/Flip/Ultra types) market is contracting every year as mid priced Android units and iPhone conquest sales siphon Android Flagship buyers away - even Google gave up the premium market. Apple sold an estimated 65-69M iPhone 12’s in just 8-10 weeks out of 79-84M total in the Dec. 2020 quarter alone (average sale price of $825-870 / unit depending on estimates) and those sales numbers strength look to continue into 2021. For iPhone 12’s, that’s already conservatively in one quarter 2.5x the total ANNUAL estimated sales for the entire S21 line for 2021.
IMO, it will not be a surprise that the iPhone 12 series will handily outsell the entire Samsung S21 series this quarter (caveat iPhone 12 has whole 3 months vs. 2 months for S2), but I predict the iPhone 12 Pro & Pro Max together will outsell all S21 series combine for March 2021 Quarter.
We’ll know all by end of April 2021 when analysts’ and research firms sales estimates come out and Apple and Samsung report Quarterly earnings.
