Interesting. This isn't something I'd have expected Apple to do, or Google for that matter. But welcome nonetheless for those folks who move from platform to platform. Having ease of transfer and options available is always a good thing, I think.
I just moved several thousand older photos that I had on Google Photos to Apple Photos in the same manner. It just took a few mouse clicks and was done. Apple even kept me updated on the progress. It took about three days. It appears that there is no limit provided that you have sufficient iCloud storage.

This is actually fantastic and really unexpected of Apple. Playing ball with the competition and allowing options to switch over is very consumer-friendly. Not even Spotify or Google offer this.

Totally unexpected and very welcome.
Actually, Google does allow mass transfer of Google Photos to Apple Photos. See the link in #26.

Speaking of Smart Playlists, the ability to create and edit them on non-PC/Mac devices when????
Would not surprise me if it’s never sorry to say but it’s like bug fixes, it’s not sexy and shiny and new and it doesn’t really jive with what the company aims to do with regard to shareholder value. :(

Google (Alphabet) owns YouTube, and Google and Apple have been fondling each other under the sheets for some time.

Now to dump your YouTube playlists into JDownloader2, and download your entire collection to a drive for safe-keeping.

The quality of YouTube Music is subpar compares to Apple Music. Quite a surprised to see this.

I pay for TuneMyMusic.com which syncs my iTunes collection to other services as the target platform’s equivalent of “follows” and “adds,” and it syncs my playlists - I have an ongoing playlist that syncs to TIDAL and Spotify overnight, or I can do one-offs (e.g. I sync editorial playlists from Apple and Spotify to TIDAL). I’m very happy with it as someone who uses Apple Music for music I own and TIDAL for streaming.

I love to see services becoming more interoperable like this. People have many reasons to move about, it shouldn’t be a chore.

I really tried to like YouTube Music but it's the worst App/Service I have ever used. It's just not good to put it politely.
I've had it for almost 2 years now since I am a YouTube Premium user.
I just returned to Apple Music even I, obviously, have to pay extra cash since I can't unsubscribe from YouTube Music.

Google proves that they're just "gêëky" when it comes to UI/UX.

Watch Spotify's CEO cry that they didn't make it compatible with Spotify right away. That's the only thing he's good at. I mean, he sure ain't good at making Spotify profitable even after 18 years 🤣

Really could have done with this last month 😩 I’ve switched from Apple Music to YouTube Premium/Music and had to manually create all my play lists one by one 😭

Apple is deleting all playlists and other saved metadata some time after subscription cancelation. I was surprised that everything disappeared when I resubscribed to AM after one year or so.

One more reason to avoid AM (especially outsisde US where AM market share is low - like few % here - and "social" features hardly exist).

The only reason I keep spotify around. I wish apple would stop deleting my playlist created while subscribed. No I don't want to have access to the music once my subscription has ended, but I'd like to playlist to stay intact.

This is some interesting news. I have finally figured out to get PlexAmp to stream my home Apple Music library to my phone, but so far, I can't export and import playlists: have to build them again in Plex. Maybe there is more interoperability on the way. (I built Smart Playlists based on keywords in the iTunes comment field, but Plex won;t read that field.)

Just tried following the instructions and all but one of my playlists was copied over - the biggest one, naturally.

Gah I really wish Spotify would let me get my decade of playlists over to Apple Music, but I can see that happening even less than this…

Free for any amount of playlists under 100 tracks. $4.50/month for everything over that.

Works for pretty much every music service there is.
