Galve2000, when you go to apple.com and then click store (before 7/15), there should be a solid bar across the very top of the page pitching it.

OR, at this address, you should see a solid blue bar below "A Higher definition of home entertainment" box showing an AppleTV and its remote.

...unless perhaps you are outside of the U.S. and maybe this is an offer only available in select countries or regions.

Only 3GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of storage? Only with a $130 gift card.

But it took them years before they updated it to last years new model. This sounds like either a promotion for the summer or they're not moving as many units as they'd like to see and thinking of ways to incentivize buyers.

Unless there's a M1 version of this coming?

How is it that Apple thinks a lower price will sell a failed product? Fire TV is by far the best Smart TV OS, Apple TV needs to skip the Hardware and stick with the App.
Admittedly, I haven’t tried Fire TV but have tried Roku and Android TV boxes. Way too much advertising, slow performance, and freezing content. Exact same media is fine with my ATVs and without advertising. Is Fire TV better than the platforms I mentioned?

Is it the general consensus that there is a new flagship Apple TV on the horizon? I know Gurman sorta said this, but is it reasonably established?

It seems weird that the Apple TV would get an update so fast after going years without one. The references to a new remote could easily be explained by any of the telecom companies wanting a proprietary remote for the Apple TV. This boy who cried wolf rumor with new Apple remotes has happened multiple times and 90% of the time it’s for a cable company.

Huh? Don't know about Android, but besides the rare static ad on the Home Screen on Roku — easily ignored — any advertising is entirely dependent on which services you use OR don't subscribe to!

We get no advertising, for example, for Netflix, ACORN, BritBox, Prime, etc. via our Roku.

It depends on what you're streaming, right?!

Would you please list the streaming services you use that show adverts on Roku, but none on Apple TV? It'd be worth learning about that — sounds like a major plus to ATV!

Oh, wait! Perhaps you're referring to Roku TVs — know nothing about those, but would still like to learn about its advertising practices.

I don’t like the home page advertising. I like being the customer, not the product.

Strange Kodi says it runs on:
  • macOS, iOS, tvOS
Sure, if you don't mind a very complicated installation process and reinstalling it every 7 days if you don't pay for a developer account. It isn't in the apple app store.

Sounds like your issue is with Kodi.
it is apple who decided not to include it in the app store. It is on Android and easily installed on the fire stick. Those platforms are much better for smart tv.

It is also in the Microsoft store.

Cool, have fun on those stores! I enjoy all my Apple gear and have no need for them.
