Bragging rights cost money. How can they, or anyone that buys this, justify the $100 price difference for a part that costs $3 more?
Speaking of OWC, I got my Thunderbolt 4 dock just over 2 weeks ago and have been very pleased. It makes life so much easer when you have several peripherals for your M1 MBA.At least you now can have things like OWC Thunderbolt 4 Hub! Other Mac factories are turning out more Thunderbolt 4 hubs too!
Look up at how much it cost to add a 10 gig Ethernet pcie card and get back to us.How can they, or anyone that buys this, justify the $100 price difference for a part that costs $3 more?

I'm sure it was quietly added, but it wasn't today. I noticed this option last week when I was playing with Mac mini configurations. I didn't realize it was new, though. In addition to overhauling the iMac lineup with new M1 iMac options, Apple today quietly added a new feature to the Mac mini. Mac mini buyers can now opt to add a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port to the device for a $100 add-on.

10Gbe wasn't initially offered with the M1 version of the mini. This happened recently for that product. But yes, the Intel version has offered it for awhile now.Uh, this isn't new. We've several Intel Mac Mini's w/ built-in 10Gbe ethernet. They've been around for a while.
I don't think there will be a M1X. There might be a M2X at some point, but I'm going to wager a coke that Apple only does major architectural updates to the M series once a year. The first thing to be updated will be the iPhone with the latest 'A' series chip, and then after that they will roll out the new M chip based on the new A series. Now I have to determine whether I want to wait for an M1X version you know is coming to finally bury the Intel version.
Yea mine is a few weeks old too!!Doh I only just got mine
I’m not going to try to counter any of your intel verses AS claims, that’s been done to death - but Apple do already keep intel versions of their machines available until the AS version is ready. The 16” machine you’re referring to *only* has intel versions at the moment, whilst the mini and the other AS models all still have intel options except the MacBook Air. You’re asking for something that’s already happening.Still think the MacBook Pro 16 with a i9 is still a better computer. 8 cores with dual thread, more memory and storage options I can still use a EGPU with a 3080 card. I want a Mac mini pro also I wish Apple was smart enough to still a Intel processor until they can get their own processors up to i9 or a AMD level processor. Think I am going to hold on to my MacBook Pro 16 for at least 4 more years unless Apple can show me equal or better value.
You may have seen it whilst configuring the intel versions of the Mac mini? That’s been available for years...I'm sure it was quietly added, but it wasn't today. I noticed this option last week when I was playing with Mac mini configurations. I didn't realize it was new, though.
Where on this earth can you find a 10GbE controller? How can they, or anyone that buys this, justify the $100 price difference for a part that costs $3 more?

You must be new here. How can they, or anyone that buys this, justify the $100 price difference for a part that costs $3 more?
Yep. Maybe they added it with the extra room they had after removing the two TB ports. You can already with the Intel model, right?![]()
If anything the pricing is very fair if not cheapShow me a 10GbE card anywhere that costs $3 anywhere. Indeed, show me a 10GbE controller chip that costs $3. It's not even close to that cheap.
I suppose it's possible, but I'm a technical guy and I was trying to look at m1 minis. You may have seen it whilst configuring the intel versions of the Mac mini? That’s been available for years...
I think you're just not the target market for this Mac mini. The reason I want to get rid of my MBP is that I'm not using its screen at all, I have two external monitors. I don't game either or do any video/photo editing, I don't need powerful hardware, I just want it to be fast, small, and quiet. You have a 3080... The Mac mini ain't gonna touch that. But I was reading this article (https://www.macworld.co.uk/news/mac-trends-2021-3800044/) earlier today, they're saying since "Apple is equipping the Mac range with its own chips from the bottom up - first the entry-level models, then the inbetweeners, and finally the premium models at the end," you'll probably get the high-end chips you're looking for next year, or the year after.Still think the MacBook Pro 16 with a i9 is still a better computer. 8 cores with dual thread, more memory and storage options I can still use a EGPU with a 3080 card.
