haven’t had a single problem going with cheaper HDMI cables.

I have. They are a nightmare to diagnose if you have a long chain. 90% of the signal issues that Sound United sees (Polk, Marantz, Denon, etc.) are due to cable issues.

Now Apple must make the iPhone chargers to work only when paired with a 3m cable for maximum profits to recoup from the USB-C EU debacle
I recognize you are being sarcastic, but there are many USB-C cables that support 100W charging at lower prices at reasonable lengths. They just won't support 40 Gbps data transfer rates.

Early TB4 information suggested that lengths over 1 meter would be difficult; 1.8 meter products have been the engineering limit until this offering.

No yeah I know cables can be pretty tricky, I’m speaking exclusively from my experience
Maybe it’s because I buy them cheap but not SUPER cheap ykno? Like I steer clear of no brand cables sold in Chinese dollar stores and whatnot

Or maybe I’ve just been lucky with lack of interference in my home

I have 2 Studio displays for my Mac Studio Ultra, and today I noticed something when rerouting cables. Each display came with a different cable. Glossing over them quickly, you don't notice it so much, as they're both braided cloth, black, pro cables. Moving the cables today, I noticed the first display I received has a MUCH thicker cable, and the hard ends where it transitions from braided cloth to USB-C plug is shorter/fatter on this cable, and the display I received second, its cable is much much thinner, and the hard plastic ends where it transitions from cable to USB-C are about ¼" longer, and thinner than the first cable. Anyone know why Apple would include different cables? Did they switch cable styles at some point? The first Studio Display was purchased from Best Buy, as the one ordered from Apple kept being delayed, and Best Buy had one in stock. The one with the thinner cable is the one that just arrived from Apple directly. The Best Buy ordered display's serial number begins with an H, and the one from Apple directly begins with a Y.

The second one sounds more flexible, and probably has better stress-relief at the ends. So likely a minor improvement?

Oddly, it is the thinner, less thick cable that is stiffer, and less flexible. Overall, the thicker cable, with the shorter, fatter USB-C ends is softer, more pliable, and places less pressure at the joint of braided cloth to hard plastic, partly due to it sticking out less far from the back of the monitor and computer. All of the other cables in my setup are the same. The electric cords, USB-C ---> lightning cords, etc., are all identical. I purchased a Mac Studio Ultra 64GPU/128GB/4TB with Pro Keyboard, Pro Trackpad, Pro Mouse, and the two Studio Displays. Across everything, the only difference is the thunderbolt cable that came with the two monitors. I assume the monitor from Apple directly is newest, since it came from China directly, and has a serial number beginning with Y, over the H serial number from Best Buy. I think I just was lucky Best Buy happened to have a plain old non-height adjustable, glossy screen Studio Display in stock for delivery, when my Apple ordered one kept being delayed. The whole setup took months to get to me. I ordered in May, and it arrived the last few days of July.

People on this forum :”that cable price is ridiculous, Apple really are taking the biscuit here”

Same people on this forum an hour later “please click to select date for delivery of your 3M thunderbolt Pro 4 cable”
