Apple this week began selling the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers and charging station through its online store in the U.S., with pricing set at $249.95.

The package includes left and right controllers with attached straps, a controller charging station, a charging brick, a power cord, and two USB adapters.

visionOS 26 added support for the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers to Vision Pro models with the M2 chip and the M5 chip, enabling high-precision motion tracking in supported games, complete with finger touch detection and vibration feedback.

Elu Legend, Pickle Pro, Ping Pong Club, and Spatial Rifts are some of the first Vision Pro games that support the controllers, according to Apple.

In addition to being available for delivery on Apple's online store, the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers and charging station will be available for in-store pickup at select Apple Store locations in the U.S. starting Monday, November 17.

Apple is not selling this PlayStation VR2 Sense set in any other countries.

I am still amazed at how Sony successfully killed Microsoft's Kinect. That was amazing tech. Hands-free, too.
Yes Microsoft got rid of Kinect. However I am not so sure Sony had anything to do with it. VR headsets to this date are still a niche market at best in gaming. By Sony's own accounts they hardly sell any of these things compared to their consoles.

IIRC, Kinect had nothing to do with VR. It was a different approach to full body integration with console games in the TV. Did MS even ever field a VR headset?

Apple should buy Sony, keep the console business going, and port all their games to native M series Apple devices (Mac's, iPad's Apple TV). Stop selling the game on PC via Steam and other providers. Make a series play for gaming as its stagnating in general. You want to play the next version of God of War, then it will be on a PS6 or Apple device.

Apple still, consistently, makes more money via gaming than almost all of gaming. Spending millions/billions more than they are now without seeing a relatively MASSIVE return on investment is not likely something they’re apt to do. Plus, the EU would be all over them just because they’re Apple.

I'm sure you can buy the controllers from Sony directly (or through Amazon UK or wherever), it's not a special version for VP or anything, just new to the Apple Store.
No, the controllers aren’t available new, separately, anywhere else. BUT, a quick check on Amazon does show that, for $50-$150 or so more, you can get a full PSVR2 which of course includes the controllers.

Does SteamVR work with AVP yet? VRChat is the "killer app" in my circles, that might actually get people I know to buy one. At least the richer people I know.

If selling more devices then xbox and playstation combined in a niche then I would love to have said niche. Look how much the quest is selling

Try ALVR its an adapter that steamvr connects to for the AVP there is a bunch of guides on reddit for the optimal setup

Yes the hololens, more of an AR headset but was quite good hardware wise they just never did anything with it after releasing it.

I think it would have a huge halo effect. Most people I know who have PCs still only have them for gaming. By Apple solving that hole missing in macOS (which theyve been working on for the past few years) Microsoft Windows becomes far less compelling. Besides Apple and Sony have very similar design philosophies and business philosophies, so I can totally see it working and working well.

PlayStation 5 has sold over 85 million consoles. Xbox around 80 million with this generation. Best available estimates I can find put quest 3 sales at between 1-2 million. Am I missing some source on sales of Quest?

my PSVR 2 controllers got the dreaded drift problem about a year after I got the headset. Up until today, the only way to get replacements was to send your entire VR2 headset to Sony. It’s ridiculous that we haven’t been able to buy replacements until now, but $250!? That’s highway robbery. $100-$120 should be the Max price for these without the charging stand which isn’t even needed.

Not sure VR will cater to me now that I wear progressive glasses.
Hooray for getting older! 😃

I wear progressive lens and have no focus issues with the AVP. Everything appears to be about 2m away from your eye so you only need the prescription relevant to that distance.

A lot of people don't realize that you couldn't directly just buy the controllers from Sony. These also come with the charging pad which the retail box that contains the VR and controllers doesn't include. So for $250 your getting the controllers and charging pad, a bundle that didn't exist before. The charging pad previously was a $50 extra charge and the controllers were not available separately before. The retail box comes with a single USB-A to USB-C charging cable for the controllers.

Finally, one can buy replacement controllers. But, steep pricing, considering that a new headset including controllers sells for €400. (And I got mine, barely used, as is common for VR headsets, two tears ago for €320 - including a charging stand).

This screams of a port of thr VR/Version of RE4 for the Vision Pro.
