Unlikely as they are pretty much the only game in town. If there was someone else making quality components, Apple would have brokered a deal with them as well. They looked towards China for RAM and BOE for displays. When display components were plentiful, Apple never looked BOE's way or bothered with Chinese RAM manufacturers.

I don’t know that you can say Apple never looked at Chinese RAM. Apple likely evaluates every supplier that might be strategically valuable. Unfortunately, Chinese RAM represents only a small share of the market, and sourcing it carries geopolitical risks. Apple may simply not have pursued it aggressively for those reasons. That doesn't counter your conclusion. It gives, what I think, is a stronger justification for it.
