I have an iPad 3rd Gen (see my siggy). I paid over $1000 back in 2018 for it brand new. Apple website offering me only $290. I was hoping for more and to buy a new iPad being released today.

That's not a surprising trade-in amount for the older 12.9 version. Generally it's about 1/3 more or less of the original price. Maybe they will offer it as a refurb, but since there are also 4th gen 12.9s in the refurb store, the 3rd gens are perhaps not selling as well.

Good point.

I just used web chat with Verizon. Here is their response:

"Apple has just announced and we are not doing pre orders yet or promos available"

Too funny!

I'm hoping Verizon offers $800 split into monthly credits like they are doing with the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Wouldnt that be great!

I have the same iPad. Yes, we paid over $1K for it **4 years ago!** We’ve gotten 4 years of great use out of it. But its 4 years old now. If you think this depreciation is bad never buy a new luxury car.

$290 is a great trade in value considering they go for $470 on eBay - before fees and then you have to hope the buyer isn’t a nut who complains there is 1 dead pixel in the bottom left corner and demands free return shipping and a refund. Take the $290 and run or just keep it as a 2nd iPad.

I’m still using mine until it dies probably. Apple made this one too good.

Yep I think I will keep it and pass it and donate to someone who can't afford one or take the trade in.
