Seriously?

How do the people figure into your life whom you give iPads?

For my birthday this year, I got sheet ties, a glucometer (that was free and didn't even included the test strips I needed) because I may be developing type 2 diabetes due to a side effect of a medication I take and wanted to monitor more than the doctor is willing to, a new shampoo cos I needed one, black shorts, even though I hate wearing black, and an inexpensive shirt and sweatshirt. (I turned 28, but that sounds about right for most of my birthdays.)

For my mom's birthday which followed weeks later, I got her a 64 oz tub of black licorice as per usual, and my dad got her a can opener (I'm not kidding, it's a German one, and he kept saying it's as much a work of art as it is a utensil). The only card I get is from my grandmother and I dread opening it, because I know it will somehow tell me this is the year to turn my life around—even though I've never done anything that bad that needs turning around.

Christmas is a time when my mom goes out and buys lots of little crap (she loves shopping) and divides it into too many boxes. One large box might have a pair of socks for example.

I love my family a lot and they love me. But I can't imagine them loving me enough to give me an iPad out of the blue. It would be nice to be surprised like that for a change.

So again, I don't ask to suggest it's wrong, but rather I'm jealous at how wonderful it is. And what do you get/expect? Big items as well? Because for as much as I complain about not getting big ticket items, I also don't give big ticket items either. Maybe you have to give big to get big, and then it sort of cancels out. Unless you're like a rich benefactor who enjoys giving a lot for the sake of it . . . in which case this post might be pathetic enough for you to feel like giving me an iPad for the hell of it! ;)

I got my mom one for monther's day...

I got my mom one for monther's day...

I'm going to get my mom one for Christmas.

Ive hinted, and I'm pretty sure that the wife is gonna get me the 27" ACD for Christmas. (I gave her a 13" MBP for mothers day)

I have been very successful in my work and I just love to give expensive (but useful) gifts, and see absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Now don't take me as a smug a$$hat. I couldn't always do that, I can remember the days of 10$ Christmas gifts, but now that I can, I enjoy it. Its always the thought and intention behind the gift that matters.

Is there any way to have this done on an already purchased iPad? (for a cost of course)

It could deter thieves, or help find its owner if lost.

"This iPad tracked 24/7. If found call -----------"

As long as it doesn't include profanity. My friend wanted to have the word slut (as part of her funny message), but they wouldn't allow it.

Disappointed with Engraving

I love the concept of engraving. The engraving on the original iPod Nano was exceptional. All my iPods have been personalized this way.

However I have been extremely disappointed with the quality of the engraving on the polished back iPods, and looks like the iPad will be no exception.

The print is way too small and after a couple of weeks, it is nearly invisible under the scuff marks that occur on the back of the devices.
