Even without the filters it's a pretty nice photo app. Nicely laid out tools that do the bare minimum that you can either control with your fingers within the photo or the slider at the bottom.

And for those that care, it's also a Photos extension.

Bad reviews are mostly for the original 1.0 of the app which didn't have anything but the random filters. As far as the ones talking about it crashing on their device, it's pretty stable on my 6S Plus.

Devices can only be associated with an Apple device every 90 days.

Didn’t have to associate my Apple ID with the device. I did get an email notification from Apple saying I signed into a device and downloaded apps without associating my Apple ID with it but I assumed that was a normal security-alert to prevent hacking. My friend was able to log back in with his Apple ID just fine so I guess just skip the associating part.
