It isn’t long since I upgraded from a 5 to an SE, a continuation of my favourite iPhone form factor. I don’t see anything I want to upgrade to, so I hope it is a long time before the SE is classified as obsolete.
The 5's design still looks good today. It has really aged well.
So far IMHO the 3G/S, 6/S, 7/S, and 8 designs won't age well. The original, 4/S 5/S/SE, and X/S designs so far will be the classic designs that define what an iPhone looks like.
I took mine in 2 months ago after the battery started bulging.Although sad; I can't see anyone taking one of these to Apple for repair...
The 4/4s is the best design in my view, and still hasn't been surpassed. That "ice cream sandwich" of glass and stainless steel is timeless. I even have my old one on my display shelf as I love it.

If the iPhone is even around in that time lol. The way apple is going I could see people not buying them later on down the road. They are good at being very limited at features and removing things like Touch ID and the headphone jack, and now charging ridiculous prices. Especially for the same phone such as the XS. I gave $1000 for my X last year, was mostly a mistake.I upgraded to my iPhone X from one of these on launch day last year. Let’s just say that it felt pretty amazing. And I plan on doing the same thing in another five years.
Apple have only recently dropped it so it will be supported for at least another two years.
I witnessed a coworker call AppleCare about an iPhone 5 battery replacement yesterday. It still runs great but battery life is only 4-5 hours. They were told to upgrade or seek third party options, which is what we’ve been telling him for months.

The staff were amazed it had lasted so long.
They charged me £79 for a replacement iPhone 5 (it was the last one they had).
It looks practically brand new and works great.
I was hoping for an updated SE...

I doubt that will happen. If you put a 7 next to an X they are roughly the same size. The x is just thickerYes, agreed. The 5 i got had a battery issue about a year into ownership. It was really bad, had to charge it almost continuously. I dumped it one week before Apple announced the free battery replacement program
But i bought a iPhone 6, and kept dropping it...too big for one handed operation. When the SE came out, I’ll bet I was about the first person to order it. Have loved it since, best iPhone to date.
I don’t expect Apple to continue to replace the SE, but if they did, I would buy three of them! What I’m expecting, though, is an upgrade of the 7 to include most of the X features, in Spring 2019. A full screen 7 might be pretty sweet.
Well I did say "At least another two years".The SE? Apple still sells the SE via authorized resellers as stated on Apple’s website. ATT still has them on their active product list. So, the SE is still being sold, and likely manufactured for worldwide sales. So the clock should not have started ticking on it yet, just because Apple doesn’t carry it in their stores.

I haven't seen anything about that on the UK site so perhaps it is country specific?
That's well hidden. It is on the UK site.

(choose SE in the drop-down list)
"Available at authorised resellers"
That's well hidden.
I never stopped loving that device, though the stretched display still bugs me.Nostalgia filter is strong on this forum. I remember when they released it so many people here were complaining about the lightning port, the glass windows on the back and how "tall" the display was.
