Given how it should only take like 2 hours to fix the code that displays the bars, do you guys think they'll be implementing other fixes as well for the poor data transfer speeds when held?

I'm a software developer and testing takes a lot more time than developing, especially when 2 million are receiving the update.

Clearly, it doesn't. Now what?

You're getting boring now. You're arguements have failed on every level, give it up.

Im saying given how they're only saying they're working on how the bars are displayed shouldnt that take less than "weeks"? Im wondering if they'll fix other stuff too. I expect all of this to be done after my 30 days are up too lol.

Yeah I agree. I think they want to go beyond the 30 'we'll give you your money back' period. People are going to wait for the fix, be dissapointed and won't be able to get a refund.

Antenna

I really hope this proves to be a non issue and everyone moves on. Maybe Apple increased it's antenna strength and it's bar sensitivity in order to make up for ATTs network.

Maybe it's like turning the treble up super high, so that you try and hear more.

I don't know. It wouldn't stop me from buying an iPhone 4 for one second.

Yea, im sure with a bit of reasonable complaining though you could still return the phone.

What kind of developer are you, if you don't mind me asking? What languages would you suggest I study up on outside of the standard Java I have now? thanks

Backlash however

The part of this which is more troubling, is that it's not about the antenna.

I fear that there is a growing backlash against Apple. It is understandable, and the lack of flexibility on some of their software makes more adventurous computer users feel a little restricted.

However, I think this is wrong. Can't everyone begin to see that Apple's innovation is the future of US growth and expansion for the next decade? It's a business model to embrace, not to cut down!

Maybe. I'm not convinced so. Apple haven't been very fair this far.
Just exactly how have they not been fair? Because you didnt do your due diligence as a consumer and understand the tradeoffs inherent in the antenna design Apple used?

Ever here the phrase CAVEAT EMPTOR?

You may not like some of the aspects of Apples antenna design... but they have not been unfair.

VB (.NET), C, ASPX and PHP. I tinkered with OB C. Not sure why this is relevant?

Oh I dunno....Maybe by lying and fooling foolioes like you ..

In order:

1.) Telling people that there isn't a problem
2.) Telling people that they're holding the phone wrong
3.) Telling people to use a case
4.) Telling people people that they're going to issue a fix to show less bars then previously expected.

I didn't see the list of 'tradeoffs' on the apple website when I paid £599 for the new phone.

I will be watching the developments in the Android development sector while refraining from any more iPhone purchases for the next 2 years

Why stop there? Make 5 instead of 2 years. Imagine how happy you will be having that Android in your hand. Oh the humanity! Then you will see what freedom is all about, you get like 2 hours more per day just because you will stop complaining in MR about your iPhone4, you will get to touch *every* part of your droid, mmm

Clock is ticking ... in 22 days the 30 day warranty expires ...

You Apple Haters Have FAILED - HEEHEE

So with all your blustering, Apple has still won, tough cookies. Consumer Reports and PCWorld say there is no problem with the iPhone 4 antenna, in fact it's the best antenna ever.

No one is listening to MacRumors, but thousands are listening to CR and PCW. So keep posting you Apple haters, the good guys have won.

Thanks. It's not relevant, but this is a technology forum and I value the input of actual developers as I intend to become one. Thanks again.

Am I the only person here who noticed what a big deal Mr.Jobs made about having better reception about this new iphone4, only to not mention you can't hold the phone in what alot of people consider a normal manner?

And I just bought a BT so I don't need to hold it...Oh wait... I need to hold to play with my apps and to use safari, etc on the phone. Oh wait... Why are pages not loading? This is a design flaw.

Anyone with 6 Apple devices in their signature doesn't count in this discussion. Unfortunetly they are unable to understand exactly what is going on.

They do. Fanboys don't want to admit that Apple f**ked up!

I'm guessing that if I wrote it then I probably read it.

He was making excuses for the design. I thought that was quite obvious.

"if bars < 3:
bars = bars + 2"

I mean, come on!

Read the rest of it, if you can
Reading comprehension or humor clearly wasn't a strong point. I'm not sure how what I wrote was interpreted as a fanboy comment. It was clearly a joke, and one pointed at Apple :)

Banned? So how am I still responding? Clever boy.

I already corrected that. I thought it was c1trate, not you whom I quoted. I'll knock myself now for reading comprehension failure.

Regardless you didn't understand what I wrote and decided to pull the fanboy card, which was silly.

Again, my joke was aimed at Apple.

Ahhgg! You left out....
5.) DELIBERATELY removing the Field Test so consumers couldn't examine the issue with real numbers. This was by design on their part so people would reference the bars, and they of course long knew the algorhythm behind those, and they'll dismiss it this way for a while, at least until ip5.
This says everything anyone needs to know about who Apple really is.

So even though the att coverage map says that I am in the best coverage area possible and I can still get my phone to drop to searching for a signal. I am expected to believe that the problem is that I am not getting a good enough signal! So I guess that means even when you are in the best coverage area possible your phone is really only getting 1 or 2 bars. If that is the case then the whole city of Charleston, SC has bad coverage! Everywhere I have been in town my phone will drop to searching if I hold it in my left hand. Just admit there is a problem Apple and fix it!

Here's a thought-

Return the phone.

"There isnt a problem."

"The antenna design means you cant bridge the antennas"

Shall I draw you a picture?
ummmkay. The experts are coming down on the side of Apple one by one. In a few weeks when all the hysteria from the neanderthals who JUST CANT SEEM TO GET IT dies down...there will be hardly a mention of this topic at all. The iPhone will continue to break sales records and most people will go on about their lives.

Then you can come down off suicide watch, and you and your Droid can live happily ever after.

ROCK ON!

That's some kinda geek talk that even I don't understand.
