An Apple founder (Steve Jobs) once said:
“I believe people are smart. Some people want to share more than other people do. Ask them.”
Apple didn't! They must now adhere to the above. It should be user choice whether to to install that part of the software in order to grab back the bastion of Apple in safeguarding privacy and avoiding surveillance. Best not to include it at all and if people want to download that facility that is their choice, rather than embed it in OS etc. Personally think they should backtrack immediately.
Again this is nothing to do with CSAM as that seeks to use children as an argument to allow SURVEILLANCE and remove PRIVACY, something that Apple has built a platform on, even in court battles with other companies let alone out of court statements about Facebook and others.
A real own goal scored by Apple who need to reel it back in immediately.
