Apple Or Microsoft Converter?

I just need a single USBC to USB converter. They're the same price, but I like that the Microsoft one doesn't have any wire and just plugs right in but would it be just as compatible? I was wondering if anyone had any experience. Thanks!

A USB-C 3.1 cable will give you 10 Gbps data transfer rate.

Neither of those two are listed as 3.1, so they are limited in bandwidth. If you only want to charge they are fine, but not for transferring data.

Apple sells a USB-3 to USB adapter form Belkin, and you can find similar ones for less:

The converter you posted is suitable for charging, but not necessarily for transferring data. You would want a USB-C 3.1 cable like the one I posted above.

Those are slow. A USB-C 3.1 cable will be at least 2x faster at 10 Gbps data transfer rate.

Well yea, I've seen that. But I've read the reviews and it makes me hesitant when people say that it doesn't work on 2018 MBP, you have to jam it in, it shorts the wifi, etc. I'm usually one all for shortcuts, but being that this is a new computer, for once I think I'll even shock myself and go for the name brand.

Just keep in mind Anker & Belkin USB-C 3.1 to USB cables range from $19 - $29 and are 2X faster than the two you asked about.

I believe the OP is talking about a USB-C to Micro-B cable for the portable HDD and a USB-C to Micro USB cable for the phone. I've used this manufacturer CableCreation and they are good quality cables. I've had no issues with them.
