For Bass get some higher end skull candies or the in-ear iLuvs, I have them, $30, I never spend more than that on earphones, they are pretty good.

Wow you guys have totally changed the way I look at Bose now. Just yesterday I was almost dead set on buying Bose. This may sound weird but now I'm even more confused. If Bose is so bad then why do so many people pay more to buy Bose than other brands? Do the Bose in ear headphones have a woofer and a tweeter built in

Marketing. There are people who can pop in a box, charge outrageous money, and market that it's the best thing since slice bread and some people will buy them just because it costs a lot and not do any research on the product.

So basically what you guys are saying is that the Bose are almost crap and not worth the money. Has anyone actually used any of these headphones?

Yes they are crap, I had a few and they broke very fast (my $10.00 from Wal Mart lasted longer) and the sound isnt' all that great.
I read on the thread 1 guy had 6 in a 2 yr period or something.

EDIT:
DONT BUY THE BOSE

Buy some Shure SE 110s or even older E2cs. You will like these much better. The Bose use sound processing to make up for their lack of quality sound. I have not tried the Apple ones, but I really do recommend the Shures.

Bose:
muddy, bad sounding
very few highs
comfortable
poor build quality (break easily. I went through 6 pairs under warranty in 2 years.)
good warranty
tips tend to fall off

Shure
not a ton of bass
not as comfortable until you get used to it
great high ends (in the 210s, 110s are ok but still better than bose)
can add attachments with remote and microphone
better case
tips don't fall off
strong feeling

I have to say that I have a pair of Bose headphones - bought a few months ago - and that they are extremely comfortable, and the sound is very good. I bought them because my old Creative headphones (also pretty good) had become worn out, and I travel a lot and wanted quality and comfort. I never liked the Apple ear pods, as I found that while they had fairly good sound, and great looks, they were exceptionally uncomfortable.

Recently, I have supplanted them with a pair of Bang & Olufsen ear pods, which have an excellent sound, and are quite a bit more comfortable than the Apple, (but less comfortable than the Bose, which are the older styled ear-muff type of head-phone. I can't speak with any knowledge about Shure, as I have never owned any, but they seem to be highly rated by many on this forum.

Cheers and good luck

I did try the Bose IEs. I like comparing different headphones, and they were relatively inexpensive at 100 bucks with a high resale value, that it was economically reasonable. SQ was typically Bose -- lows at the expense of particularly mids. They were infuriating on a number of other levels - didn't seal out any noise at all and those tips kept falling off so easily. Not sure if that latter annoyance was ever addressed. I resorted to superglue to varying degrees of success.

I like bass so.. which ones are good for bass?

if you like bass then i would suggest at least trying out the bose if you can. although they are far from perfect (no ipod/iphone controls, no mic, tips tend to fall off if you toss them in your bag without the case, etc.).

however, i'm willing to tolerate all this because they have more bass than any earbud i've ever tried and give your music a sort of "in your face" quality that i love (my personal opinion). again, this is completely a matter of personal taste (some will interpret the strong bass as "muddy sounding" or "lacking mids" etc.)

they are also extremely comfortable to wear for extended periods, and require no break-in period or "getting used to"

in comparison, my shure earbuds sound flat and thin, and were extremely uncomfortable. after a while you get used to the fit, but i still would never wear them for any extended period.

although i generally hate bose, their earbuds fit my taste better than any others i've tried....

not to discourage you but...

u came to an apple LOVED forum to ask if whether or not apple was right for you... obviously people are going to showering you with opinions on how MACs are designed by gods...

regardless

here's my opinion :D

MACS ARE DESIGNED BY GODS (no more like genius)

n e wayz on a more lighter tone...

macs are great machines, quality built with customer care to back it up with (but then so are the dells)

i've enjoyed dell's physical damage protection warranty for many years.

operating systems for both machines are different

and here's where your opinion matters more then anything...

have u been PC bred (conditioned) since u first started using the computers? if so u'll find pc to be more of a comfortable enviornemtn

OSX however for macs, require a bit of getting used to, a bit of hunger to explore, and a bit of patients

OSX is a superior system but dont take my word for it... use it and see (people will give you examples but u should be the one using n deciding)

lastly

PCs are realtively cheap

Macs arent

my excuse for siding with pricing for macs is ... hey IM A UNIQUE COMPUTER ... and can run both of the operating systems ... SO YA im like a full house maid vs a person who only cleans ur bedroom

ya?

but if ur only going to be using one room in the house (i.e. if ur only going to be using Windows on a mac then there's no point in spending the extra $$ for something that runs it just as well for half the price (a regular pc laptop)

ok so now u decide

EDIT: OOPS... i guess i got alil ahead of myself... :p didnt quite read the post just reacted on the title

well in this case i'd go with bose (have em and love em)

i have the skull candy full metal jackets, and paid 25 for them and they are fantastic. why waste so much money on in-ear phones, you can get good ones cheap, and good money on other things.

Apple I haven't tried I can't say anything about it.

Bose, I tried and it's crap.

Shure I love.
