Make it good Apple or many will jump to Android.

Already did after iOS 5 was announced. Overall I was really disappointed with it.

What would they need to change? The OS doesn't have any huge differences so an iPhone 4 would handle it just fine.

Android is cheap plastic crap with horrible battery life junk. I would take a 3GS over any Android phone.

Cheap plastic crap, no. Horrible battery, yes but I just carry a spare in my pocket and everything is fine.

Sweet. Don't really care if there is just a simple hardware upgrade, i've been holding onto my 3GS for far too long. With its degraded battery life...ill be the first in line for a new phone.

Android will have at least 15 million activations in 30 days. :D
Nothing can stop the dominating power of Android.

Wow you must treat it good! I went through 2 original iPhones, which both gave up the ghost. Still got them lying around somewhere...

Its got some bumps and bruises. It helps that it's not plastic. But boy am I ready to update, it can get frustrating at times now with how it runs.

Ok, time for me to start a rumour based on... well, it's a rumour, I need no basis.

It will come with 4G, 2 SIM card slots, a Micro-SD slot and, why not... like macs can now install windows, you can also install android or the windows for mobile os thingy on the iphone 5.

3 and 4 sim card slots will be saved for future marketing purposes, i mean, a feature they will work hard to release in the next few versions.

Note: this is ficticious, but I would love the Micro-SD slot and the multiple SIM cards.

Kinda funny you said that. I did just that. I sold my iPhone 4. Then got the Galaxy S II import. Then I realized my mistake in abandoning iOS. So I sold it and bought an iPad 2. I am using an old 3GS until the iPhone 5 hits.

Stop parroting the same old bs. Look at the Galaxy S2, nothing cheap or plastic about it. And I don't see how iPhone battery life is any better, neither an Android phone nor iPhone comes close to my SonyEricsson K750i that holds a charge for 1.5 weeks.

That will be the day I switch from iPhones forever. 3D is a headache inducing gimmick.

I love my Nintendo 3DS

Cheap plastic crap?

1. Not all android phones are cheap.

2. Is plastic always crap? What about 3G/3GS/Macbooks that are made of plastic? Are you talking about the revolutionary Apple plastic?

Just let it go - There are great android phones out there. The software maybe crap in most of them.

The first time I heard rumors about Apple skipping the usual yearly upgrade for the iPhone, I thought it will practically kill them. And by the time they updated the iPhone4, the competition will be so far ahead of them already.

Seems like I was wrong.

not lighter? no bigger screen? after owning 3 iphone generations samsung here i come. i have to say many people who previously owned a iPhone r jumping ship. my iphone 4 feels like a 2 year old phone compared to the now sold out galaxy s 2

dont get the iphone 6 wait for the iphone 7

iPhone 8 will be better than those :D

But seriously, I have a 3GS and sure the iPhone 4 is nice and the iPhone 5 will be somewhat better, but maybe I'll just stick with what I have until next year. I'm not feeling compelled to upgrade. I wish I was.

and we're off... ;)

I'm still half through my iPhone 4 contract and it looks like this one is just a subtle improvement on mine so i'll be waiting until iPhone 6.

If it does have an A5 though it should be mighty fast...!

Gonna upgrade regardless because a relative lost their 3GS (which I gave him) so that I can give them my 4.

I love the design and am somewhat underwelmed with iOS 5, but it's not a deal breaker. I'm expecting an A5 and higher quality cameras, but I really really hope the screen size ups to 3.7 or 4. Longer battery life would be nice, like always, but I'm pretty satisfied with what it already has.

We'll see, I suppose. We'll see.

Tweaks

This phone better have a larger screen and better be the iPhone 5 and not the iPhone 4S model.

Good news. I'll prolly keep my 4 unless I see a redesign though. The current design and overall phone works so well. :D

I've still got my original iPhone... Even after my 5 year old son had it for a year or so and gave it some serious hammering it's still going! ok, the wi-fi doesn't work anymore, it's got a dead pixel and the audio failed a long time ago, but it still basically works LOL ;)

I still use it for app store development. If it works on an iPhone1 on iOS 3.1 it'll pretty much work on anything ;)

I won't be at all surprised if it's a 3G -> 3GS update. I really don't know how that previous poster can say their iPhone 4 feels like a 2 year old device...I still couldn't be happier with my purchase but will probably wait until the following update even if my carrier is giving early upgrades again.

"does not seem..."?

Doubtful they'd put out a big fat important-sounding "5" device number without some significant change.

Otherwise it would be a "4"....

Here's a novel idea...everybody wait till September before blowing your horn in outrage. sheesh

Well people seem to get confused with the 3G to 3GS move and thinking it will apply to the 4. The 3G and 3GS stood for the 3G connection. iPhone 4 stood for the fourth iteration, so naturally 5 would be next unless they have 4G speed. Then they could call it 4S.

This year will be marginal upgrades for the iPad (Meaning the iPad 2) and iPhone (whatever they call it). Marginal doesn't mean they aren't awesome updates, it just means good business. Honestly, I think everyone would be tired if we got a brand new redesign EVERY YEAR. I went from the iphone 3G to the 4 and have the iPad 2 and will upgrade to the 4th one.

My prediction:

Same screen as iPhone 4
Extremely similar body style
A5 like the iPad 2
Upgraded camera
Universal Qualcomm radio across all models, Verizon model may not have SIM slot though
Capacity bump to 64 GB
Black and white from launch

Not that I have any insider connections but this list seems fairly accurate to me. Enough for me to upgrade from my 3GS. Can't wait!

I'm glad there aren't any major changes. I also hope they raise the price a little, maybe $25 or so.

There has to be some update to it, as it wouldn't be a new phone or iphone 5. I bet people will be angry if its only a minor update! :D

Personaly im waiting to go back to the iphone this september, and i quite like the look of the 4. In fact, if the 5 only had a slight bump in power and spec i'd go with a 4 as they would be a bit cheaper.

Prediction: I say the things that are easier to change will be changed, ie, same shape, but aliminium or metal back (to stop the cracking glass replacements) and a few, or maybe all of these bumps: camera, processor, storage and RAM.

All good changes, but in the 4 shape. I'd be happy with that! :)
