Apple has placed a straight-to-series order for "Swagger," a drama series based on the early life of NBA All-Star Kevin Durant, according to Variety. The series was put into development back in February.

The series, produced by Durant's Thirty Five Ventures, Imagine Television, and CBS Television Studios, is said to be inspired by Durant's youth basketball experiences. It reportedly explores the world of amateur basketball in the Washington, D.C. area, including players, their families, and coaches.

"Swagger" is said to "walk the fine line between dreams and ambition, and opportunism and corruption." Reggie Rock Bythewood will reportedly serve as writer, director, executive producer, and showrunner.

Durant is a two-time NBA champion with his current Golden State Warriors team, a nine-time NBA All-Star, and was the NBA's Most Valuable Player in 2014 and Rookie of the Year in 2008. He is also a two-time gold medal winner in men's basketball at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

"Swagger" will be one of well over a dozen original TV series and movies that will be distributed through Apple's widely expected streaming video service, which will reportedly launch in more than 100 countries in 2019. A full list of Apple's planned TV shows and movies is available in our Apple TV roundup.

Lol, NBA twitter is going to love this. I like KD but a lot of the hate he gets thrown his way is self-inflicted (mainly the use of burner accounts). I'd def tune in though

Who cares about the life of athletes?

The millions of people who enjoy sports and realize that they have lives off the court/field too?

are they aware that no one has a clue who this guy is outside of the USA ??? who the hell is he , and who cares

You do know the NBA is insanely popular throughout the rest of the world too right? They host events overseas all of the time during the offseason. Hell even NBA stars are signed to Chinese apparel companies. This is just incorrect

It depends. Like any successful people in a given field, there might be something useful to learn. Well made bios might be incredibly entertaining, even those of athletes and celebrities.

Kevin Durant has turned into one of the most annoying athletes in the world.

That said, this will do great. He’s extremely popular and polarizing. Perfect.

Well if you are a fan of the NBA then you will know him. I have never heard of him since like most people in Germany we don't care for basketball. I can hardly name you two NBA teams. Maybe three if you give me a minute. Most germans will not be able to name you one NBA team or player though.

Idk about the overall popularity of basketball in Germany, but I do know *one* of the best players of all time is Dirk Nowitzki. Pretty sure the majority of the German population knows who he is. Then you have Detlef Schrempf who was pretty popular as well when he played.

My whole point is basketball is widely popular throughout the world and the NBA is the world's best league. To say no one outside of the USA cares about NBA players is completely false. Especially with more and more international players entering and being successful in the league

Does Apple release any genres I’m interested in?

Sci-fi like the first Alien movies

Thrillers like the Sinner, Ozark, etc.

Horror like the haunting of hill house

I could make a big list but I’m not interested in ‘political correct movies’ I mean, come on... there has to be some entertainment factor in it... need o escape real life drama from time to time ;)

Yeah.... My thoughts too. I wouldn't pay a dime or waste a minute of my free time to watch this one.

If you want to do a documentary on one of the really rare cases where a sports athlete really does a lot of good outside of the sports career? Sure .... no problem highlighting that. But most of the time? Sports careers are just ways for someone to achieve wealth and fame because they're really good at throwing a ball around or catching or hitting one. Meanwhile, SO many people spend their lives under the radar, doing things that improve society like teaching or doing research science or inventing the next great thing.

This is just entertainment about people who get paid a lot to entertain you (and IMO, are much less entertaining than people like stand up comedians or actors/actresses or musicians).

Would be nice if they could cover his later years where he create burner accounts and goes online to argue with basketball fans.

Yes, you will. It’s called iPhone/iPad/Mac price increases. Prices didn’t go up because it’s suddenly more expensive to make another phone, tablet, or computer.

(Well, okay, apparently making the Mac Mini space gray costs a whole heck of a lot.)
