Developers are now able to enter a lottery to attend a WWDC 2022 viewing party at Apple Park, with Apple now accepting entries through its developer website.

Apple is inviting a small number of developers to the Apple Park campus to watch the WWDC 2022 keynote and Platforms State of the Union on Monday, June 6.
We're hosting a special all-day experience at Apple Park on June 6 to kick off WWDC22. Gather with others in the developer community to watch the keynote and State of the Union videos alongside Apple engineers and experts, explore the all-new Developer Center, and so much more. We can't wait to connect in person.
Apple says that it will be an all-day experience at ‌Apple Park‌, with developers also be invited to explore the new Developer Center that Apple has built. Apple last year said that it was building a dedicated Developer Center on the ‌Apple Park‌ campus, though few details have been provided about it.

The ‌Apple Park‌ event is free, and all members of the Apple Developer Program and Apple Developer Enterprise Program can apply to attend. Invitations will be allocated through a random selection process and cannot be transferred.

Submissions will be accepted from Monday, May 9 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time through Wednesday, May 11 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Developers will be notified of their status by Friday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

I'm really curious to see who is willing to fly all the way to Cupertino for a one day viewing party.

Apple:

"We have determined that after *checks notes* 47 applications were received, all 47 will be allowed to attend. In Cupertino. At their own cost. To view something that will be streamed on the internet for free."

But they have to justify that massive campus so....

Apple got really good at these high production value pre-recorded events. I can't see them going back to a full stage presentation. I think what we'll see at WWDC will be a hybrid event with Tim Cook live on stage with an audience, throwing it to speakers in pre-recorded segments on location at Apple Park and elsewhere. Then after the event, those present at Steve Jobs Theatre go to the hands on area, which will be the benefit of attending in person.

So what do you all think iOS 16 will focus on? iPadOS? iOS? Both? Bug fix release? Building on existing features or new features? There are so many possibilities to disappoint people! I can’t wait

I think (ok I am wishing) that iPad OS gets the big update that is rumored.

the rest I would be happy with just a regular level of updates.

To be fair, some people see a difference between watching on the internet and actually being there.

I remember the days when WWDC sold out in days, then hours, then minutes, then seconds, and now lottery. I submitted an entry. I'm not really a developer, but work in IT. It'll be good to see what new features I'm in for. Plus, I've never been to California before, so might go a day early, leave the next day, and have a nice little 3-day, 2-night vacation.

Blimey, how are we almost half way through the year already? In my head I thought “WWCD is still months away yet”, but it’s happening (Tim Cook gif and all) next month!? Sheesh.

I registered. I largely work on web products, and haven't done an iOS app in some time.

I've got a lot going on right now, but I would probably try and make a trip like this happen if I won the lottery.

Even if it meant flying there and back same day.

Before, when it was a paid event, it was live. Now it’s just gathering in a auditorium and watching a streamed video.

I guess if you are in the area it might be fun.

In the future: It would be nice if Apple can also open Apple park viewing event for general public too. I can't believe we are less than a month away from WWDC 2022, officially kicks off. Exciting time :)
Maybe someday Apple will hold a World Wide General Public Conference. But it makes little sense to invite the general public to the World Wide DEVELOPER Conference.
