I really don’t get the hype around this movie, it just looks like another generic sports underdog story with an obscene budget thrown at it to make up for lack of originality.

100 % agree. It is pretty similar to Rush (2013), which was an O.K. film that would not sell well today, it was saved by Hemsworth’s star status at the moment and by a few historical bits sprinkled there. It turns out that a drama about car racing doesn’t give you much to work with.

Avid F1 life fan here.

I’ve seen the filming between sessions and the shenanigans it involved - most drivers didnt seem interested at all in the “circus”.

Of note - Brad PITT is now 61 YEARS OLD.

Completely unrealistic (which is what they were allegedly going for in this movie), and honestly a 61 year old racing F1 would be offensive to the actual F1 drivers who rarely make it past their mid 30s in the sport.

Why not cast Harrison Ford (82) while we’re at it?🤣

He could rip out his Star Wars fan favourite “I have a bad feeling about this” right before the season deciding race🤣
To give them the benefit of the doubt, Brad Pitt is absolutely never cast as a retiree. He doesn't look 61, and easily passes for a 40 year old. I'm sure he's supposed to be an Alonso type (despite the fact that Alonso was never "washed up" like this character is apparently, but he's far older than conventional wisdom says you're allowed to be. But it's worth noting that every modern-era driver who was over 40 (Mansell, Raikkonen, Alonso) were all WDC winners who were still outperforming their cars, and Pitt's character isn't.
