Apple Patent Reveals Interest in 'Silent Disco' App Technology for iOS Devices

So kind of like pandora/radio station, but music is controlled by friends/group members. Could be cool.

So you're in the middle of busting a move to the transcendental heights of The Macarena; and what happens? The Roving DJ changes the BPM and your song cuts to Achey Breaky Heart! Sounds terrible.

Oh great. So in the future.... Apple might have a valid lawsuit against me if I go twerking and Vine it to my friends?

I agree with others, i don't like this idea of patenting the world to basically give yourself a nice list of money earners in patent court.

They're clearly doing this in order to throw people off from looking at their real patents.

Patenting the world? That's ridiculous. What Apple is doing here is patenting a specific method for real-time data sharing and collaboration through a trusted moderator. The "silent disco" example of applying this method is just one, and likely a trivial, potential application for this technology. I can easily imagine gaming and business uses for this type of communication mechanism.

But the music has to be on your player in the first place. And if you have Achy Breaky Heart on your player you deserve all you get. :D
