After spending a lot of time on the internet trawling through forums, I can't find a conclusive answer to the following question: can I add cards to my Wallet app from different countries?

This is the scenario: When (if) Apple Pay comes to Germany I want to have my German debit and credit cards, but also add cards from my UK account (so that when back visiting family I can easily switch to using UK Apple Pay). Is that possible? Can anyone just test this possibility?

I have switched my device region to the UK and Apple Pay appeared. I was then of course able to add my UK cards without a problem. That would be a temporary workaround until the German Apple Pay is available.

EDIT: It would be enough if someone could test two cards from different countries that are currently supported by Apple Pay!

I live in a Canada bordertown. I spend a lot of time in the U.S. so I have 2 US bank debit/credit cards in addition to my Canadian cards. I have the 2 US cards as well as 6 Canadian debit/credit cards all set up with apple pay. I use the Canadian ones in Canada, the US ones in the US. Works flawlessly.

Yep, cheers! Can now also confirm this works without problems. Also all the transaction info etc. all stays intact!

Very glad this works!

You can also add and use cards from a different region without switching to it. The distinction is merely between the haves and have nots, if you're set to any country that has apple pay you can add a card from any other country that has apple pay :)

Thanks! That's good to know!

Generally I'm not to happy about the way how Apple handles languages and region settings. As I live in Germany I have my region and main Apple ID set to Germany (but language set to English UK), which means that Apple Music content is of course in German and focused on German content. That really annoys me every time I open the music app. I would much rather have everything in English and also choose Genres I'm interested in (also include French Pop). I have no interest whatsoever in German music. I also don't see how setting the region to UK would change much from a user perspective (I would of course gain the News app), but prefer the German format settings. That's why I've stuck to it for the time being. After adding my cards and getting a French boon account the Apple Pay settings have remained under the German region setting. The chances of Apple Pay officially coming to Germany are tiny anyway.

All in all it's not confusing, just a lot to think about when you're a person travelling and living a lot between different countries and want to keep all your services in those countries intact on your devices.

Last thing I need now is for my UK apps to update through the German App Store without me having to keep logging out, into the UK ID, then out and back in with the German ID and also loosing all my Apple Music downloads in the process.

Do you have a Mac?

Yes I do (see my signature)...

I am aware of workarounds with iTunes 12.6.?, but I can't be bothered with that route. I just want direct iOS side updates. But apparently that is in the works for iOS 11.3, so I'm hoping that stays in there.

No need for workarounds and stuff. Download Configurator 2. Sign into your UK itunes account. You'll never have to switch in iOS again (except to purchase new apps from the UK store.... you can switch on your ipad though if its more convenient). Plug phone into Mac, it'll tell you if you have updates for the relevant (UK) apps, download them and install them for you and boom you're good to go.

I'm in an almost identical situation to you, except I live in China (Chinese Apple ID, chinese apple music, etc. - literally our only difference is I still prefer the UK region setting because I don't want Chinese dates/times). I used to have a second user account on my mac for downloading and updating my important apps from the UK store, and copying them to my main account through home sharing... it was a big PITA. I wish I'd known about the Configurator 2 route long before Apple forced our hands.

I resurrect this thread to add one thing regarding this point.

I have an Apple ID set to Italy but I live in Germany. I also have a secondary German Apple ID to download Germany-specific apps, like the one for the cellular provider (O2) that is not available in the Italian App Store.
I always had to do as you said: change store and update.
Since some weeks, however, I regularly find the O2 app in the update list without doing anything and still being connected to the Italian Apple ID...does it happen to you too? Maybe they have solved the issue...

P.S.: by the way, before this I had found a workaround to access the update without switching account and losing the music downloads (that was horribly annoying). Just google an app available only in one country (in my case, I used Vodafone Deutschland), click on the link that opens the App Store, accept the store change...and there you are! To go back, do the same with an app specific for the other store (Vodafone Italia, in my case). This way you could switch store without touching the settings!

Yes, that changed with iOS 11.3. Apps from other stores now also update, even if you're logged into another country. A way to install new apps is to ie. use your iPad, download the app there and then use the mobile configurator to put that onto your main device (ie. iPhone). Saves me from having to keep re-downloading tens of GBs of music!

By the way, considering the main topic, I have read this from the N26 bank FAQ page (I have the German version that of course has no Apple Pay, but they support it in other countries already) and it says:

"To set up Apple Pay in your N26 app, just go to the card settings and click on "Add to Apple Wallet". Please note: It is essential that your iPhone region (Settings> General> Language & Region) matches the country where your Mastercard was issued"

Is this a general thing? Or specific for this card? Plus, as I understand correctly this only involves the iPhone region and not the Apple ID region that can stay as it is, right?!

My region is set at United States but all my cards but one are Canadian.

Hi. Anybody had new about this?
I currently use Apple Pay with my American (usa) card. But I also have credit cards from Peru . And there they just enabled Apple Pay. I’d like to add them to my apple wallet. It is possible?

I was trying to add a card from Peru (banks there just enabled Apple Pay)
But it didn’t allow me. More even, when I click more info, I see the attached pic.
So , are you guys sure we can add International credit cards?
