Is anyone else having problems using the side button to bring up the Apple Pay function.? 90% of the time I only get the "friends" feature to slide out. After making multiple attempts now I'm only getting the "friends" to activate. Even if I launch the passbook app and select the card there that double push just brings up friends.

I had this problem at first. . What caused it for me was not being fast enough with the double click. Have you tried clicking without a pause between clicks ?

I find it very difficult to get it right. I'd look like a fool if I were in line somewhere trying this. I'm doing it at home trying to figure it out and maybe I get it right once out of 3 or 4 attempts. I'm afraid this may prove useless for me, the phone would be far easier.

Place your finger on the button and keep it there. Then press twice in succession without removing your finger from the button, fast. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I'm still struggling with this. I normally get the "Friends" feature to slide out and back twice when I do this rather than the Apple Pay card. Seems like there should be a better way. Glad I would normally have my phone with me.

Either my mechanism is defective or I'm just too spastic to get it right. But if it requires just the exact/least amount of pressure and the least/quickest time between pushes then there is too great a possibility of error. The function should really have its own mechanism to activate it. Combining it with the Friends button introduces too many chances to get it wrong.

As I said I can only assume that I'm much more spastic than any of you or something's wrong with the mechanism on my watch. It's great for getting the Friends to slide out and back twice but not much else.

If you have a store near have them take a look. Even going a bit slow on my clicks I get access to my cards for payment. I can slow to the point that I feel too slow and still make it work. Have it looked at, it really is a great feature of the watch that you would enjoy if you had it working. I have already used it several times in place of my phone and it is indeed easier.

Compare to the display models at the Apple Store or have a Genius check it out. Either yours is faulty or you're too slow. We don't know at this point.

I'm going to wait for a while but then I think I'll try to get an appointment to have it looked at. I can't slow up on the presses at all or it just doesn't work. I think it should be something like 2 presses within two seconds, maybe that's too long but right now I have to get them in less than a second, maybe less than half a second, to work. It's very sensitive and I wind up getting it right only about once every 4 times I try.

I'm not the youngest guy out here but I can't imagine an elderly person ever making this work the way it is on mine.

I know 2 seconds would be too long but the way it is now it's not worth bothering. If I have my phone which I would, I'll just use that. Perhaps if there were some user option to change the required interval between presses it would be viable but as it is on mine I'd just look like an idiot trying to get that thing up.

I was hoping that going into the passbook app would give you a more direct way of initiating this but you still have the same two presses required and the same problem for me.

Actually thinking about it, if you've already launched the Passbook app and selected the card you want to use only one press should be required to initiate Apple Pay. If you're not in the app then the double press is a convenient way to get to it, even if it doesn't work for me.

The display units will show you ApplePay too. You could drop in, try it on the display and if you see a different result then make an appointment.

I would really get it checked. Could be something wrong with your button. I've had no problems at all with it.

I have found that it really is sensitive to where I'm pressing. When I've got it to work I'm placing my finger and pressing at the upper edge of the button. The lower edge works also. If I position the press more to the center of the button I almost never get it to work.

I am going to try some out at a store and see what difference if any there is.
