Seems kind of ridiculous when Paypal doesn't charge a thing for sending to friends and family.

Yes I know it is next to nothing but still the point.

Yes, ApplePay charges the standard 3% fee due if you use a credit card. Technically, it's the credit card fee, not Apple. You can avoid the charge by using your debit card to make ApplePay payments.

Even my credit cards have no added amounts.
It's charged to and paid by the retailer, that's why you don't see it when purchasing stuff.

If you’re talking person-to-person I’ll stand corrected as I haven’t used that. It wasn’t clear from the OP. But buying at a merchant does not add anything. If I buy a soda at 7-11 for a dollar, it’s a dollar charged to me, not $1.03.

Agreed. It didn’t make sense why the OP was even seeing it, or worried about it.

I think this is the OP's concern:
If you send money via ApplePay using a credit card, the sender gets charged 3% on top of what they send. For instance, if you send $10.00, you will be charged $10.30. The receiver gets a payment of $10.00.

That makes sense. I was looking at retail purchases where the merchant eats the processing fees.

I’ll have to keep that in mind. Thx.

From Apple

There’s no fee to use Apple Pay Cash with a debit card. If you send money using a credit card, there's a standard 3% credit card fee on the amount funded with a credit card.

From PayPal

There are no fees within the U.S. to send money to family and friends when you use only your PayPal balance or bank account, or a combination of your PayPal balance and bank account.

There is a fee to send money as a personal payment using a debit card or credit card. The fee in the U.S. is 2.9% plus $0.30 USD of the amount you send. For example, if you send $100.00 USD by credit card, the fee would be $3.20 USD ($2.90 + $0.30)

Seems like it's more or less in line with what it's like with PayPal:

I guess I was unaware there was no charge for using a debit card.

Thx for the feedback everyone
