Anyone who applauds this is delusional.

This is a very sad take on corporate donations/philanthropy, but not completely without merit. (see below)

This is just virtue signalling

Make no mistake, they are PURELY doing this for optics and to get their name mentioned.

One could argue that this fits any corporate donation, virtue signaling, "advertising" or tax purposes. Giving money away would have to fit some purpose as it would generally not be in the best interest of shareholders.

True donations/philanthropy generally come from foundations (though even these can be exploited) or from individuals.

In fact it's 0.0000075 x their 2024's (nearly) 400,000,000,000 dollar revenue, or to put it in time terms:
0.003 day's revenue.
or just short of 4 minute's revenue out of 525,000 or so minutes of 2024.

Anyone who sees this in a positive light is making the situation worse by making it seem as if something meaningful was achieved by this 3,000,000 dollar "donation"

Again, the total dismissal of 3 million dollars by some here is staggering. I cannot be bothered to look up the operating budget of this organization, but I doubt that 3 mil is inconsequential. For those that imply it is not enough, I would remind you that Apple makes other donations, would you prefer that Apple's donation budget be spent in one place and not spread out amongst worthy causes (disaster relief, etc.)? Would you prefer they not donate at all?

I would also be interested in hearing from the naysayers... how much of your income did you donate this year? Something about stones, glass houses and such.

Anyone who applauds this is delusional. This is just virtue signalling... Remember that 3,000,000 dollars is ONE MILLIONTH of 3,000,000,000,000 dollars which is still significantly less than their near 4BN$ market cap.
That's 0.000075%...

Make no mistake, they are PURELY doing this for optics and to get their name mentioned. They are a money machine, they couldn't give two squirts of pee about disease or anything other than their bottom line... hence a market cap rapidly approching 4,000,000,000,000 DOLLARS while their shop staff still get less than $20 per hour average.... (to put that into perspective, I used to get $16 per hour in 1991 to keep printers clean).

Anyone who sees this in a positive light is making the situation worse by making it seem as if something meaningful was achieved by this 3,000,000 dollar "donation"... It's basically the "THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS" of the business world.

NOTE: These stats were provided by Google so could be complete bollocks.
Couldn’t have said it any better! Thank you 🙏🏻

Percent wise much more than Apple did. I did this in silence and not taking credit for it. Thank you 😊

Easy claim to make from behind your keyboard, please provide citation. If you wanted your donations to be in "silence" you probably shouldn't have made claims here, now who is virtue signaling?

I would appreciate it if you don’t make it personal and it’s not appropriate to ask when not being a company. Also you’re assuming and deliberately trying to make me a liar. That’s not oké! I know what I’ve done and don’t have anyone to answer.

You are the one that made the claim, you could have just ignored my comment to the naysayers. If you make a claim on a public forum you shouldn't be offended when one asks you to provide proof.

Don’t care if apple is virtue signaling or not. They did something good and that should be applauded, no matter what the rational behind this.

Precisely. The progress that has been made with this virus is incredible and we are a decade or so away from eradicating it.

You’re focusing on the 1%. The death rate from this virus has plummeted and it will soon be a thing of the past. Yet cancer rates are increasing. Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Heart disease, etc. are all significantly bigger issues in healthcare today.

What did they write that is “vile” in the least bit? See what I wrote above.
630.000 people died from AIDS last year (42 million in total). If I need to explain to you why calling the disease hip is vile, there’s no helping you.
