For what....security..no...convenience....nope...

I don't see much added value in Apple Pay whatsoever, maybe if you own an Apple LTE watch but it ends there.
We, in Europe already have a system in place which takes care of the above, NFC enabled cards, those are no less convenient than ApplePay.

There were strong rumors about ING introducing Apple Pay. I wonder what happened.

Crap online experience, other banks do a much better job than the crap ING delivers.

AP uses secure onetime tokens which is more secure than what contactless cards use. So yes, security.

For what, If my card gets compromised it won't cost me anything (here) , the bank pays, not I/we, therefor our system is already secure enough.
But the retailer still tracks your transactions, but not with AP.

Also, banks are becoming much tougher on misuse, so many won't instantly pay without tracking where/how the fraud happened.

Additionally, more security should be praised not left to "don't care, banks will pay me back anyway" simpleton philosophy.
Fraud costs us all money directly or indirectly, and cancelling cards/accounts, identity fraud, mentally take their toll, too. Have it happen to you, and you won't be taking it so casually, when various things you take for granted don't happen correctly.

That's only in the US. Presumably Apple accepts a far smaller cut elsewhere.

Don't know about those other countries, but if they take a "far smaller" cut when you are starting at only 15 cents for a hundred dollar transaction, I am not sure what could be left.

And they were right.

Apple Pay is now available in Belgium:
Code:
"BE": {
      "BuddyManualProvisioningEnabled": true,
      "BrowseProvisioningBankAppsEnabled": true,
      "BuddyProvisioningEnabled": true,
      "ManualProvisioningEnabled": true,
      "serverURL": "https://smp-device.apple.com/broker",
      "ServerControlledProvisioningEnabled": true,
      "CameraFirstProvisioningEnabled": true,
      "PaymentSetupFeaturedNetworks": [3],
      "FindWithoutNumberEnabled": false,
      "SupportsV3": true,
      "PaymentSetupImageManifestURL": "https://smp-device-content.apple.com/static/hero/heroManifest-52782a36-44b8-479e-93bd-699f47fb40b9.json",
      "PaymentServicesURL": "https://smp-paymentservices.apple.com/paymentservices",
      "PaymentServicesMerchantURL": "https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices"
    },

There's also a new entry for KZ, but i'm not 100% sure if that's new or not:
Code:
 "KZ": {
      "BuddyManualProvisioningEnabled": true,
      "BuddyProvisioningEnabled": true,
      "ManualProvisioningEnabled": true,
      "serverURL": "https://smp-device.apple.com/broker",
      "ServerControlledProvisioningEnabled": true,
      "CameraFirstProvisioningEnabled": true,
      "PaymentSetupFeaturedNetworks": [3, 4],
      "FindWithoutNumberEnabled": false,
      "SupportsV3": true,
      "PaymentSetupImageManifestURL": "https://smp-device-content.apple.com/static/hero/heroManifest-52782a36-44b8-479e-93bd-699f47fb40b9.json",
      "PaymentServicesURL": "https://smp-paymentservices.apple.com/paymentservices",
      "PaymentServicesMerchantURL": "https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices"
    },

And I can conform I could add a BNP Parisbas Fortis issued MasterCard to it just now.

Aaide of BNP Parisbas Fortis, they also enabled the two other brand names the bank uses: hello bank! and fintro.
A prepaid Mastercard or a full fleged one? I can't add my prepaid Mastercard for some reason...

Disagree, totally disagree. There's been a time where ING failed at keeping their technical services running, but they have really come a long way! Especially their app is superb and has no competition at all.

I would definitely never switch to any other bank such as Rabobank or ABN Amro for example. I do have to say that - since I started using Apple Pay in the Netherlands with Bunq (using a workaround that was possible for about 12 hours somewhere early this year) - I have started to like that one as well. But apart from that..?

But again, I'm using Apple Pay right now, which works fine thanks to Bunq. I was lucky to be one of those few people who got it up and running before Apple made them shut down that option.

Fair enough.

Apple mentions 3 Belgian banks for starters:
  • BNP Paribas Fortis (Mastercard credit cards, Maestro debit cards)
  • Fintro (Mastercard credit cards, Maestro debit cards)
  • Hello bank! (Maestro debit cards)

You have itsME for that, also on the phone.
itsME is great, but it is not yet a substitute for your eID which you're obliged to carry at all times.

I said ING website sucks, and it does compared to the Rabo Bank, just an example, if you want to make an international transfer there's no link on the main page, I then searched the net, found a ING link, what did it say, you have to search on the site itself to find the international transfer page, how inconvenient.
Rabo website is 10 times better, the Bank might not be although I had little problems with them.

Ok. Thanks for sharing.

Was this a genuine reply or being sarcastic?

May I ask you where you find this code, probably a plist somewhere.
(You were right, also in KZ

Sorry to inform you, but if you think you'll never need to carry your bankcards with you anymore, you'll be sorely disappointed.

For starters, many places won't take it. Secondly, every few translations the banks will often decline the transaction, and you have to use your card+pin to make the purchase.
And finally, some places still only allow up to a certain maximum amount for contactless device usage (a complete pain in the backside, but most lift this needless limit eventually).

I guess i’ll find out soon enough.
But I have to say that almost every shop I go to has a ‘new’ payment terminal that should work with ApplePay.
But thanks for the warning, will soften the blow when it turns out you’re right ;)
