Apple updated its Apple Pay participating issuers list today with 18 additional banks, credit unions and financial institutions supporting the contactless payment service in the United States. The newly added Apple Pay participating issuers are reflected below, although it's worth noting that some banks, credit unions and financial institutions listed may have already had support for the contactless payments service and are only now being reflected on Apple's website.

Slowest roll-our ever (CurrentC would likely have earned this, but it haven't even really launched yet.)

Everyone complaining about their bank or merchants not being supported. Meanwhile, in Canada, I'm just waiting for actual support at all.

Most of our stores already have the NFC Infrastructure required for apple pay but we don't have it: like most things really.

WTF Discover.....it this really that complicated for them to get on board?
Honestly, I have not seen Discover out there in the wild in a long time. Visa and MC seem to be the big boys followed by Amex. Surprising how many others there are also with low penetration. Not knocking Discover, but how many people use this?

I just spoke with "Gary" in (NC)SECU's Member Services Center (this one in Kernersville) regarding when/if ApplePay will ever come to the nations 2nd Largest Credit Union. He was aware that Navy Federal - the largest CU - have offered ApplePay for quite some time, but had seen no communication from SECU on their stance, so he asked 2 supervisors. One told him that they were waiting for "bugs" to be worked out with ApplePay (I was not aware there were any, but this is NC, where excuses are thrown about freely), while the other says they "may never offer ApplePay". I explained, as I usually do on this matter, that SECU put no restrictions on my using my Visa at Home Depot, Target, and BJ's - and had to issue new cards each and every time one of those merchants had data breaches. I then explained to Gary how ApplePay works on both my iPhone and Watch, and told him that Google and Samsung both offer/will offer similar payment types.

Gary said he will check other sources within SECU and try to update me later today. He also said he will ask that some type of communication be made on their website - yea or nay.

It is wonderful living in the "tech capital of the East Coast".

The largest credit union in Ohio (Wright-Patt) is still not on board either.

Of course, all three of our credit card providers are on board, so I'm content. I wouldn't use the debit card much anyway. We get no rewards for debit card use.

I know, right?

I have a US card attached to my iPhone though and it confused the poor lady at Tim Horton's. I specifically said "Visa" and she insisted on trying to use the barcode scanner.

Thanks for the update. I didn't realize NCSECU was that big. It's certainly curious it's taken so long considering they usually seem to be so on top of things otherwise––we got the chip-and-pin cards straightaway. In any case, I gave up on it happening and moved to a credit card, which I should have probably done anyway for the rewards and credit buildup.
