And still my local bank is dragging its heels. They've been promising Apple Pay for over a year. I wonder what the big delay is. Does Apple take a huge cut from the banks? Is it technically so difficult to implement?

I use Discover and getting 10% back is awesome.

Now if only more than a handful of places I actually went accepted Apple Pay.

Still no grocery stores.

Dear Apple, if you could maybe spread Apple Pay to other developed countries, where contactless payments have been for years, that would be very much appreciated. Thanks! :)

For people who don't have supporting banks.. Why can't you just simply get a credit card from any one of the hundreds of banks that already do (e.g. Capital One, Baryclays, etc) and simply pay it through you're existing checking account?

So i see my bank on the list now, try adding card and Apple Pay/iOS tells me its not supported. Bank isnt open yet so i have to ask, would this require a new card from my bank or will it work at some point?

The card itself is a Debit card that can be used as a Visa...

Thought you folks may know.

Thanks!

It's mainly a matter of convenience. I'd rather not pay interest on a credit card. I don't want to deal with numerous bank accounts. I'm happy with the financial terms of my home bank where I have a debit card; I'd just like it more if they'd instituted ApplePay. I currently use ApplePay occasionally with my current credit card, but that institution provides plenty of financial safeguards already. My debit card is much less secure; ApplePay with that card would make up for that.

It's great that the number of supporting banks is growing, but it's pointless if the service cannot be used in most places of business. The idea was that support would come as businesses replaced old POS to support PIN cards. With that said, I see new terminals at most stores now, yet none of them support NFC or the feature is disabled (Home Depot, Gas stations, etc.)

It's just a shame that such a great feature is going to waste.

You know, I thought that with the 10/1 deadline for the shift in responsibility for theft would prompt people to switch, but that doesn't seem to be happening. I think, like with all of the financial changes, companies/banks/people are being cautious and us being on the cutting edge of this gets frustrating.

However, having said that, I have changed some of my buying habits to stores that do take :apple:Pay / NFC payments. It's just fun to see the clerks' faces when you just bring the :apple:Watch to pay for stuff. People behind me in line get a kick out of it too.

Well I have other cards that use it, but I try to not use my credit card when I can. Plus my bank already told me they were going to support it in the near future so I think I'm just anxious :D

See, I'm the opposite. I'll charge everything to my credit card. During the McDonald's free small coffee promo I had to pay like 25 cents to get a larger sized coffee.. "Charge it!". With the cash back rewards it's a no brainer. If you're going to spend the money anyway, you might as well charge it to a credit card and then pay the balance. As long as you pay the "last statement balance" you don't have to pay interest. It's not like you're doing a cash advance or a line of credit type of deal.

But I understand your frustration.

Here in the UK a ruling by the EU on interchange fees means cash back rewards are being slashed or dropped altogether by our financial institutions. Santander who I hold a credit card with are offering customers between now and through Feb. 2016 an extra 3% (capped at £100 monthly) on Apple Pay transactions. So I agree it's a "no-brained" to charge it to your plastic so long as you live within your means.

Just wish my main supermarket (Sainsbury's) offered contactless!

No waste for me. More and more of the stores I frequent are using apple pay. My most frequented market just added it. About 70% of my shopping, markets, eating take apple pay.

My big problem is with the Otterbox that I have.

It's 'compatible' with Apple's Touch ID system, except that it's not really... It has bubbles, and when I tried to add another finger, it wouldn't do it. I'm tempted to cut the plastic film over the Touch ID hole. I read their blog, and apparently the earlier ones had 'issues' with Touch ID, yet while trying to make a warranty claim, they ask for a 'Serial number'. I don't remembering ever having a serial number for an Otterbox case...

It's amazing how fast Apple is acquiring banks. However the retail sector is severely lagging. I hope these banks push the merchants.

As of now I only use Apple Pay at Panera Bread in-store. I can reload Starbucks card with Apple Pay. And buy stuff on Staples or Apple Store app

Actually I've been pleasantly surprise lately - around my neighborhood, I am beginning to see coin operated laundry machines, mom/pop hardware stores and even liquor stores :p accepting Apple pay (and any other mobile payment)

I might add that in these places you can place your credit card on top of the reader (no swiping) and that's working as well (no phone/Apple watch required) - I don't recall when was that enable as well.

Imagine how us Canadians feel…every other week there's a story about Apple getting 4710293487098 new banks on board, and not one of them is in this country which is right next to you guys and is friggin' bristling with NFC terminals. :/
