Apple pay in Apple store app use iTunes credit?

If buying on my iPhone using the Apple store uk app, if I chose Apple pay will it use iTunes credit I have first or ignore that and use my registered credit card?

I have quite a bit credit on iTunes as bought a few discounted cards, and I'm thinking I could build up more as sometimes get 20% off so would be good saving?

iTunes store credit cannot be used to buy hardware at the Apple store, so no.
