I have used Apple Pay in numerous stores for a long time. The way it used to work is I would open the wallet app, tap on the card I wanted to use, and an option "Pay with Passcode" appeared at the bottom of the screen. Tapped on that, double click on the side of the phone, hold the phone to reader, Done. First time I tried to use it today after downloading IOS 18. I cannot find "Pay with Passcode" option. I am assuming either it moved, or I need to activate something to be able to use apple pay.

Help...

That seems like it would take longer than pulling out a real wallet and card. Why not just double press the lock/home button?
I have only ever seen pay with passcode if faceid doesn't work.

Double click side button. If Face ID fails you’ll get pay with passcode. Make sure double click side button is turned on in settings.

Use mine today (18.0) Face ID, and I just double tapped my lock/home button, the default card came up, held it next to the reader. Done.

have they changed the pop up though? A few times I’ve wanted to pick the card I use, but now the pop up shows a primary card (the one you used last time it seems) and you have to press ‘change payment card’ and then select from a list, go back to the payment page. I’m sure previously it just showed both cards and you could press the one you wanted to use. Certainly feels more cumbersome

I’m not sure what you mean. Double click and the default card shows as selected in wallet settings. If you want to switch a card temporarily then while in the wallet flick the card down and all cards will show. Select one and off you go. No link to change payment card.

Do you mean the payment pop up when you use Apple Pay on a website or within an app instead of at a card reader in a shop?

Yep on a website, sorry wasn’t clear.

I’ve just had a look and I don’t think it’s changed much. If I remember correctly you used to tap on the card itself to change it. But the fact you jump to another screen to select the card was how I remember it. The fact is separate text now is new to me.

If I’m honest I don’t normally change my card as I have one credit and one debit card and it defaults to my credit card. That’s the one I always use as I get point/cash back on it.
