Since the update, when using Apple Pay on Safari, there are now extra clicks on iOS and iPadOS. When I select the black Apple Pay button, before I can pay with a fingerprint, I have to click a message to “verify contact”. I then select my own phone number and email (only options shown but I have to select them to proceed), and THEN I can pay with the fingerprint.

Is there a way to fix this or is it “not a bug”?

I called Apple on this one. Not a bug, it’s “extra security”. Another feature that they’ve added several more clicks to.

It’s an Amex preferred. Had it for years. The extra clicks here make no sense to me. When they ask you to verify contact information, the only choice offered is me! And anyone can make those clicks. The actual security part is when you use your fingerprint (or Face ID).
