Apple today sent out emails highlighting a new U.S. Apple Pay promotion, which will see Panera Bread offering four months of unlimited free coffee to those who sign up for a MyPanera+ Coffee subscription and use Apple Pay to check out.

New subscribers who sign up for a MyPanera+ subscription by January 27, 2021 can get the first four months free. After that, the subscription is priced at $8.99 per month. Using Apple Pay for the subscription is a requirement.

MyPanera+ subscribers who swap their payment method to Apple Pay are eligible to get a free cookie. The MyPanera+ program offers unlimited premium coffee (up to every two hours) in any size. Hot tea and iced coffee are included, as are unlimited refills, but espresso, iced cold brew coffee, iced tea, and cappuccino are excluded.

Panera Bread is also an Apple Card partner that offers three percent Daily Cash back on Apple Card purchases made at Panera Bread locations.

The coffee is trash. Save yourself the hassle of having to cancel.
Maybe that's just your particular location?

The one I've been going to for the past few months has been ok. (Only the dark roast though. Tried the light roast and hazelnut and thought they were horrible.)

Don't like their coffee? You can also get hot tea and iced coffee. And it's easy to cancel through their app. Takes less than 30 seconds. The first time I signed up was through a T-Mobile Tuesday offer. Cancelled when the 3 months were up and when Panera offered another 3 months free directly through their app, I signed up again.

I've learned that it's best to go in the morning when it's fresh. Every time I've gone past 12 PM, it didn't taste as good.

More subscriptions? LOL
First of all, you can get 3 months of free Panera+ without Apple Pay, so this promo is not that great.

I have espresso machine at home, so I would normally poo-poo their coffee. But I found their coffee to be pretty decent and $8.99/month is a great deal (normally costs more than $2) if you live near Panera.

Panera is owned by the same company that owns Peet's Coffee, and while Panera isn't at Peet's level, I find it to be better than Starbuck's. Yes, I realize most coffee snobs would rightly poo-poo Peet's and Starbucks. But just putting things into context.

I would prefer pastry subscription as my kids are addicted to their cinnamon crunch bagels.

Italian here. So if espresso and cappuccino are excluded, what is actually included?
In USA, espresso, cappuccino, latte, mocha, and cold brew are considered premium as they are brewed cup at a time. Panera+ includes cheaper Americano-style drip coffee that produce few dozen cups at a time, stored in a giant thermo. They are then served either hot or iced.

This is a great deal, love the hazelnut flavor. Though, some of the complaints here are valid, the coffee ranges from okay to horrid. But free coffee is a win in my book. Just remember to cancel after the free trial period as Panera will not issue refunds for forgotten cancellations.

I agree with you. Panera's dark roast tastes better than most Starbucks. The only Starbucks coffee I like(d) is their Sumatra blend and their holiday blend from 2019... or was it 2018?

My daily go-to is Peet's Major Dickason's. Had their (Peet's) 2020 holiday blend and I'd say it was worse than Panera's dark roast.

When I feel like splurging, I'll buy something from Cuvée (West Pole), La Colombe (Corsica and Nizza), etc. My current roast is Sight Glass's Organic Toketee... freshly ground each morning with a burr grinder and made with an Aeropress.

I'm a Peets guy so nothing from Panera or Starbunk will interest me even with 4 months free. Why torture myself?

Panera has great Hazelnut coffee. However, for $8.99/month, it's not worth it to me.

Iced coffee with two espresso shots costs me only two dollars with this subscription. Saves me three bucks from buying the Starbucks equivalent. I will say that without the espresso shots the iced coffee tastes very plain and almost tea-like. Haven’t bothered to try the hot stuff yet.

Lets be real here - has anyone ever left Panera and felt satisfied with themselves? There is more dignity in eating at McDonalds.
To each his/her own. Not sure where dignity comes into something like that.
