Now through August 28, Apple will donate $10 to the National Park Foundation for every purchase made in the U.S. using Apple Pay on Apple.com, in the Apple Store app, or at an Apple Store, up to a maximum of $1 million.

In addition, the annual U.S. national parks Apple Watch Activity Challenge returns on Sunday, August 23 this year.

You’re a trillion dollar company. You can donate a million no strings attached as we’ve seen and it would be ashtray change for you.
This is even more pitiful when you consider Apple takes a cut from those Apple Pay purchases. Also, this campaign only includes Apple products, so you’re giving money to Apple anyway. Sure, donations are nice, but the way this is structured—and only $1 million from Apple—is a joke.

Oh and the National Park Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, so Apple could likely write off the entire $1 million as a charitable deduction. So, in reality, this "generous" donation might not even cost Apple a dime after tax breaks.

Uh, yeah. Thats how the world works. Did you know you can deduct your personal charitable donations too? I guess that makes it less generous though, so I guess you shouldn’t bother. /s

When I’m donating to causes I support, I don’t donate sums that amount to nickels and dimes in comparison, I don’t make it conditional on people buying stuff from me, and I don’t advertise my greenwashing to gain clout.

Just because you write it off doesn’t mean it doesn’t cost anything. It just lowers the taxable income.

You’re right, nobody wants nickels and dimes. I’m going to stop “rounding up” the next time they ask for a donation at the grocery store. /s

By the way, grocery stores do this as a tax deduction. So, I’m sorry sick kids, you’ll need to get your charity from a less greenwashed source next time.

I mean… yeah. Kroger is a billion dollar company, they can donate to sick kids. Or they can lobby for affordable healthcare instead of tax exceptions so donations for sick kids wouldn’t be needed.

So nice to see you and others A: dictate how Apple makes donations, and B: have the nerve to deem such donations as insufficient.

Same as it ever was

I’m not dictating 💩 but I can point out the silliness of it. Hey if it it works on some people, then it’s money well spent I guess.
It’s like watching a Tikky Tokk reel with an influencer presenting a homeless person with a dollar, preening and prancing about what a wonderful person she is.

Isn't the National Park Foundation controlled by Trump loyalists who treat it as a slush fund? Am I wrong about that?

It’s the height of ignorance to act like one political party abuses money and other does not.

Greed, corruption, and mismanagement at the local, state, and federal level transcend party lines.

Focus on more productive topics like how the iPhone ultra will be the most successful, genius product the world has ever seen…

…right behind the iPhone Air.
