Apple Pay has expanded to more banks this week, including Westpac in New Zealand, ING in Spain, Consors Finanz and Viabuy in Germany, Bank Millennium in Poland, Arbejdernes Landsbank and Spar Nord in Denmark, and Aktia in Finland.

Apple Pay has also rolled out to Monese cardholders in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Sweden, while Danske Bank has announced that it will begin supporting the iPhone-based payment service later this year.

Westpac supporting Apple Pay in New Zealand is notable, as the bank has refused to partner with Apple in nearby Australia. A few months ago, after large competitor Commonwealth Bank launched Apple Pay, a Westpac spokesperson did say the bank remains "open to considering Apple Pay in the future."

Apple Pay is now available to all Westpac New Zealand customers who have an eligible Mastercard debit or credit card. When customers use Apple Pay five times in the next month, Westpac will give them $10 and donate $10 to charity.

Apple Pay has been gradually expanding across Europe and the Middle East, launching in Belgium and Kazakhstan in November, Germany in December, and Czech Republic and Saudi Arabia in February, and the service will soon be available in Austria, Estonia, Greece, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Romania.

Lost all hope. I think banks will always protect their system and platforms here. They’re even adding NFC functionality to their own apps. Oh well, first world problems.

I doubt it will ever get here too despite what they say in the article. My bank app has a feature similar to Apple Pay called MB Way and that feature is widespread here, basically everyone younger than 35 use it. I doubt they’ll give up their monopoly.

I absolutely love Apple Pay. But here in Sweden, as several other places, the banks don’t want to adopt it. There’s only one bank that’s agreed to accept AP.

And yet they introduced Apple Pay in Sweden. It is astonishing how Apple Pay still not is available in The Netherlands, even though there are 2 systembanks that have showed interest.

What about Mexico, the banks association and the central bank should really step up and standardized touchless mobile payments and stop propietary solutions, otherwise apple pay will never happen here, lesser developed countries like Brazil have it.

We have the same in the Netherlands. As long as this Payconiq **** and proprietary mobile bank apps for only Android stays the standard here, Apple Pay is never happening.

Well Westpac here in Australia are now starting to look really stupid when their New Zealand Subsidary has Apple Pay and the main bank doesn't but on the flipside however, it may be a sign the main bank is about to reach an agreement with Apple.

We do have ApplePau here in Sweden, but the only bank that supports it so far, is the bank everyone loves to hate, Nordea. I will never change my banking to Nordea, but I will wait until some decent bank supports ApplePay.

It could mean absolutely nothing NAB's New Zealand Subsidiary BNZ has had Apple Pay for a long time.

NAB (National Australia Bank)
BNZ (Bank of New Zealand)

Yeah, I don’t want to switch bank either. But instead you can use the Klarna card and connect to any account, which is the comparable with AP! I’ve been using it for 2months and it works great!

You know what I really like to see happen, Apple being forced by the EU to open up NFC on iPhones, there's a lot of uses for it, like public transport/2FA on certain websites, I have one, can't go to a higher level of security because there's no NFC support on iPhones while other systems have.

Apple pay here is just an "added" bonus, it has no added value for me, systems are one of the best in the world, we/I don't need another one.

YEs!

Power move!

Huh....

I'd say the same to your post.

Apple has already worked with Japan for NFC for public transit ... mid 2018.
Apple is already working with Chicago, NYC and San Francisco for NFC in transit payment systems ... have you not been reading their press releases or their announcements in the past 12 months?

My post about ApplePay being a power move is on point. Apple hasn't given up and is working openly with banks. Even Australia, who's financial governing body had initially rejected ApplePay for months (I'd say close to a year) finally resolved that issue and it's at 98% implementation there! Is that not a power move for you?
Samsung Pay
Google Pay
^ how many countries and retailers, banks and credit payment systems (American Express, MasterCard, etc) do they support on a global scale?

EDIT:
IF you're talking about Interac ... lol .. not compatible in the USA; which is a big deal for me being a Canadian. Furthermore, any cash Kiosk system can charge you ANY rate (legally; at least in Canada) for this.
