Well, I should have known better than to order it from Best Buy. It said overnight delivery but it took a whole week for it to be delivered with multiple delays (from a location 2 hours away, eesh). I did get an additional 10% off after nicely complaining about the shipping experience via support chat, which is supposed to get credited to my card within a billing cycle. If it doesn't I've got the chat transcript as proof. I've had decent store experiences at BB, but definitely not going to order via shipping again.

I ordered one at Walmart for $99 several days ago. Picked it up outside, where it was in a bag and I did not examine it in the parking lot. Got home and realized there was no plastic wrapping around the box, and when I placed it on my ipad it had 4% battery life, which made me think this was not even open box but used, ridden hard, and put away wet. Have no idea how Walmart could have sold me a used Apple Pencil 2.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone here?

Called them and am taking it back tomorrow for a new replacement.

I bought one originally from Walmart (before it went on sale and so returned it) that also had a 0% charge, which was a concern, but it charged right up and worked fine. The box was covered in the normal plastic though.

By all means you should return that one.

I of course contacted Walmart immediately and they worked it out. Can't believe I was given an unwrapped item. How did that slip thru, or did someone there do that intentionally.

I'm not surprised they put some returned items back on the shelves if they appear to be unopened, but very surprised they would do that with an Apple item. Something went wonky there, but glad you got it worked out.
