So, since there’s no new Apple Pencil as of now... is it worth getting the 2 as opposed to waiting until November where there might be a new one?

Only you can answer that question for you. Do you have a use for an Apple Pencil now? Then get one. If not, don’t.

There will always be a better thing in the future. If you wait, you can get it. But at the cost of using it now.

So to sum up, if you need or want it then get it. Otherwise don’t. It really is that simple.

Perhaps I should elaborate. I don’t want to buy one now for the new iPad Pro and then have to buy another one just 5 months later (has apple ever done this type of quick upgrade before)?

Why would you need to buy a new one in five months if you buy one today?

The only reason would be if the new pencil had functionality that you had to have. If this was the case, then the current pencil does not meet your needs.

So is there something the current pencil does not do that you must have?

Again no one but you can answer that question for you.

I have an Apple Pencil 1, will it work with the new iPad Pro?
No.

@Coolio1234 You might consider something like the Logitech Crayon or Adonit Note if you want to hedge your bets on a new Pencil and save a bit of money. These are every bit as precise as the Pencil, but work on any Pencil compatible iPad of any generation. You lose out on pressure and tilt.

That said, the Pencil is so good, and it’s so convenient to be able to store and charge it wirelessly on the iPad, that I’d just buy a Pencil now and use it until Apple offers something else that makes it worthwhile to upgrade.

I read somewhere it works.
I have apple pencil 1 and planning on using it with the new 12.9 pro

The problem is with charging. It requires lightning port and the ipad pro is USB-C
