Apple Pencil 2nd gen not connecting to M4 pro

M4 iPad pro
i tried 3 different Apple Pencils- second generation.
None of the the pencils connect.

i tried off/on, remove case, restart, update, etc.
anyone using the second gen pencil with the M4
if so- how do you get it to work?

I seem to recall someone else having this same issue and Apple ended up changing out their iPad - the fault was there and was not customer fixable.

I misread the original, thinking the Pencil Pro. 2nd Gen won't work, as you say.
