I have the gen 2 iPad Pro and gen 1 Apple Pencil.

One of the more frustrating things about my use of the Apple Pencil -- which I use a lot -- is that the screen tends to jump when using it with OneNote. It also does this with Notability, but not quite as bad. It's almost like the palm rejection isn't tuned in well (I have it set for my writing angle). It's annoying as when I write, the screen from time to time jumps up or down, or changes zoom position. It's very annoying and makes for a lot of resizing/correcting/moving screens around, etc. I can't figure out if it's the app or the hardware itself that's the problem.

Do any of you experience this? Does the second gen Apple Pencil and gen 3 iPad correct this?

How’s it right now, is it solved? This problem only occur in notability or in apple notes as well?

It's not solved yet.

Ironically, I just yesterday switched back to Notability, because on my iPad, it seems to happen less. It's very annoying. It seems like it would be fairly simple to implement. When the tip of the pencil is within a certain distance from the screen, turn off touch.

Does it get to do with ur palms? Like if they’re sweaty? Or have you tried using another pencil from your friend?

No, I don't usually have very sweaty hands. It's definitely a palm contact thing. I recently left my Apple Pencil in a cab and had to buy a new one. The new one does it, too.

This is a OneNote issue. I use OneNote frequently on both my iPad and on my Surface Book 2. It’s just as jumpy on Windows. I’ve submitted feedback multiple times.

Other apps are far less susceptible to palm-related shifting And inadvertent zooming in/out.

That’s interesting that you’re also seeing it on the Surface Pro. What a badly enabled feature! My use of OneNote is mostly for manual note taking. I don’t do a lot of typing there. It seems to me that this would be the prime use of this program for tablet owners, and this problem has been ignored. I’ve seen it now for several years.

I’ve switched back to Notability. I’ll stay there at least until Microsoft gets their crap together on this.

I often use GoodNotes on my iPad. Almost never happens. Microsoft could fix it without even changing their drawing engine if they would implement a page zoom/position lock that could be toggled on/off. But it’s been a couple years now and the Windows 10 (UWP) version still is as jumpy as the iPadOS version. 🤷‍♂️
