Is the Apple Pencil reliable for every day usage? I'm a student and I will be using an Apple pencil for note taking on pdf in class. My biggest fear is that it's going to suddenly stop working when I'm in class. Has anyone experienced Apple pencil failure?

[doublepost=1472070791][/doublepost]I've not had any issues with mine except dropping it and dinging the tip. I replaced the tip and everything was OK. However, there is another thread with a few people saying that they had charging issues with their pencil.

I am waiting for the Update Apple Pencil 2 with much needed improvements like being Triangular if you take the 3 fingers you hold a pencil with your finger tips form a natural triangle. This would also prevent the Apple Pencil from rolling away. And much needed inductive charging.

I find that the charge is hit or miss because the Pencil drains when it's moved around. But charging is easy in the iPad, charging from 0% to 100% doesn't even take an iPad battery down by 1%.

I've had zero issues charging or reliability with Apple Pencil. And as for the comment of wanting it triangular that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Some artists' drawing tools are triangular. They are also much thicker than the Apple Pencil.

I have owned two Surface Pro's before I got my iPad Pro. The iPad and Pencil are far more reliable than the Surfaces ever have been. It's the first digital device where I feel like I'm actually using paper. Just tonight I filled out a ton of school forms for my kids entirely on the iPad and it worked completely flawlessly. 100% digital, no paper.

The pencil is weighted so that it won't roll away on a normal desk/table.

zero issues with my launch day apple pencil. been through one tip since november due to me dropping the thing on the floor. i have a pack of tips so no worries.

i use the tablet 5 days a week and use the pencil 2-4 hours a day as a mouse (pointing/clicking/dragging on the screen).

The only reliability issue with my Apple Pencil has been me. Sometimes I forget to check how much of a charge it has remaining before starting to use it. Do a better job of that than me and you shouldn't have any problems :)

The most reliable stylus I've used by far. The only times it's stopped working on me is because it's out of charge, and that's been my own fault for ignoring the low battery warning. Barely any lag in lightweight apps, next to no parallax, and accurate enough even for tiny handwriting. You'll be fine

And that's fine for a proper artist. But not the Apple Pencil. If you want it that way buy some of these https://www.amazon.com/Classics-Tri...r=8-1&keywords=triangle+pencil+grips+for+kids

Honestly I think wanting a certain shape or whatever for a drawing instrument is a bit silly... Real artists will use anything from crumbling sticks of charcoal to fountain pens to tiny pastel stumps and even their fingers. We make our tools work for us... The Pencil is comfortable to use, I dunno what more people want of 'an artist's tool'.

The only issue I have, is that the Apple Pencil doesn't make me a better artist or any artist to begin with. And my handwriting still sicks too! :(
But jokes aside: I had none technically problems with it and the performance depends on the App you are using.

The Apple Pencil is amazing! I have had zero reliability issues. The ONLY thing I could even think to complain about is that I wish it had a longer battery life, but given charging is easy and quick it's not so much of a bother.

Adobe tried this with the Ink stylus. Personally, I found it super awkward to hold.

Ive got one and it works very well. But for class note taking, what isn't easier, lighter, more eco friendly and better in a frankly overwhelming amount of ways than a paper pad and pen?

Pencil functions fine although my first one stopped working and charging after 5 months...just wish it was smaller and had a slot for it built into device
