Are gen 1 and gen 2 using the same tips? Should I save my extra tips? Thanks!!

Not being snarky— I use my pencil all the time and have never worn it down. Do you actually change the tip sometimes?

On one hand Apple is saying that the nib hardly ever needs to be replaced by not including an extra in the package.

Then on the other hand, they only sell them in 4 packs for $19? Why would you need 4?

Which is it Apple??/

Posted on another thread I switched my generation 1 pencil tip to the generation 2 and it worked just fine

Thanks for the reply - waiting on att for my iPad.

And to the other post... no, I haven’t changed tips. I still have the extra that came with Apple pencil gen 1. I feel like the tip breaks from dropping the pencil more than is wears out. I also do t press very hard when drawing or writing.

Yes, pencil V1 did ship with a spare tip. I still have it and haven’t installed it. Granted I did not use it much. I intend to now. I want to ditch paper notes and use my iPad. The new form of the 12.9 feels much better to cart around.
