Hi guys

I'm planning on buying an iPad Pro to gift myself for my birthday soon. The main reason I want to use the iPad is like watching TV, browse the web and interact with apps. I mainly want to use it as an encyclopedia for "programming apps" because I want to get into coding and working on my MacBook can become quite heavy in the bed and stuff. I also want to use it with an Apple Pencil to sketch some sketches and that's where my question starts:

Is there a difference in latency when using the Pencil with an iPad Pro 9.7" and iPad Pro 10.5"? I'm aware of the beautiful screen on the newer iPad Pro's but that's not a selling point for me this time.

Thanks for your feedback and have a nice day!

I checked out the 9.7 and 10.5 in store and a few videos on youtube. In both findings there is a slight increase in the 10.5. I'm going with the 10.5 because I want to use some photo apps. I have a 3rd Gen iPad that's 5yrs old and I notice some lag when I'm updating apps and playing a game. I was thinking, over time my next iPad will experience some lag. So why not go with a faster iPad? This way I will get more use out of it? perhaps?

Update I got the iPad 10.5. I didn't pick up the pencil yet but I have been drawing and its great. Just did a few doodles. I know the iPad is basically bare but when I download apps its was really fast.

I’vee got the 10.5 and pencil and am on 11.1.2 and haven’t noticed any lag with the pencil. Mainly use it for light sketch work, photo editing and the usual comsumption...
Also the last update seems to have taken care of the battery issues too.

Latency is lower on the 10.5 due to the display’s 120hz refresh rate. It’s not huge difference in practice (the latency on the 9.7 was already pretty low), but it does make drawing on the 10.5 feel a bit more realistic.

None. I have both and I don’t noticed any difference between the two for writing or drawing.

Yes the latency on the 10.5 should (in theory) be exactly half the latency on the 9.7 (due to doubling the refresh rate).

But unless you are a serious artist I doubt it will make much difference in practice. I have the 9.7 w/ pencil, and for my use the latency is acceptable. But my use case is very casual and infrequent
