Yep. I was responding too someone who was using USB-C, USB2.0, and USB3.0 interchangably.Yes it is, because Apple people don't know about stuff unless it's marketed to them, and people associate USB-C with faster speeds…

That's disingenuine, and I wasn't agreeing with you but contradicting you.Yep. I was responding too someone who was using USB-C, USB2.0, and USB3.0 interchangably.
Meh. It’s really a non-issue because for a lot of people the port is just for charging, but I reliably synced photos and music over usb2.0 for years so it sounds like endless handwringing on your part. They market USB-C because that’s what the port is, just like they marketed the lightning port shape before it, and 30-pin before that. Do you really think they’re not going to mention usb-c after being forced to switch to it by the EU?That's disingenuine, and I wasn't agreeing with you but contradicting you.
Apple does hide the fact that their connector is USB-2 by marketing its USB-C shape.
USB-2 does not belong in USB-C.
In fact nobody should use that dated, 22 year old tech.
Like i said the only good reason it's still on there is so you can't reliably transfer music, data and pictures to external storage.
Wow so toxic.Meh. Would it be nice if all iPhones had USB3, sure, but they don't. If you need USB3, get a discounted 15 Pro instead of a 16 or 16e.
Wow so toxic.
You know what else they advertise ? Transfer speeds and compatibility with external SDDs for videos... on the pro model. Wow look at this powerful chip we have, but it's not for you base model peasants.
The fact remains the poster your intially contradicted was right, and you are the one splitting hairs and gaslighting.

Right, but they still swivelled well after it was clearly understood that no one was paying attention to their microUSB understanding. With the entire tech world already using USB-C by 2022 and Apple merely waiting for the decade of lightning to run it’s course in 2023, what, exactly, did the EU accomplish by setting a date for the end of 2024?Er, the MicroUSB MOU was 2009 - It’s not like the EU swivelled to USB C overnight, MicroUSB had run its course by then.
Yes, the EU saw that microUSB was a losing battle and still wanted to claim that they MADE something happen, so they took the connector that Apple Intel and others were working on for YEARS to say it was their idea. When we all know, nothing as comprehensive as USB-C could ever have come from EU regulators. So the EU took the emerging industry standard (including the power delivery spec which had been a problem with USB-A/MicroB) and made it a requirement. Just for good measure, Apple had been part of the development team for USB-C and - by 2015 - had already started using it in the MacBook. Should the EU have invented their own weird and wonderful connector and forced that on the industry instead?
They didn't swivel. The MOU was renewed twice and finally expired in 2014 - the year the USB-C standard was published. The first USB-C phone appeared in 2015. The MOU ran its course, and by the 2010s all the major smartphone makers (except Apple) were using microUSB. Whether that would have happened without the MOU we'll never know - but somehow none of Samsung/Google/HTC etc. (except Apple) tried to cash in by making a proprietary connector (which was standard operating practice before microUSB). The one thing the MOU didn't cover was fast charging standards - and, surprise surprise, that turned into a pot-luck mixture of actual incompatibility and "only use our charger" FUD.Right, but they still swivelled well after it was clearly understood that no one was paying attention to their microUSB understanding.
The adoption of USB-C by the EU has been discussed since at least 2018, the proposal was published in 2021 and passed in 2022 - so it would have been an influence on manufacturers switching to USB-C. 2024 was just the final deadline for implementation. Lightning's "decade" ran out in 2022 - not that anybody would have seriously held them to that. With the entire tech world already using USB-C by 2022 and Apple merely waiting for the decade of lightning to run it’s course in 2023, what, exactly, did the EU accomplish by setting a date for the end of 2024?
Enjoy your alternative reality. MicroUSB was accepted (by everybody but Apple) as the standard for years. The real question is why did Apple have to be (apparently) forced to use the very USB-C connector that they themselves helped to design & promote. (Actually, I think they're just briar-patching. so that they can blame the EU for a change that was going to happen anyway).es, the EU saw that microUSB was a losing battle
The directive helps dissuade any of the large phone-manufacturers with popular phone models from adopting a gratuitously incompatible connector and/or charging protocol in order to lock consumers into buying proprietary chargers and cables.... a practice which was endemic pre-USB, continued into miniUSB (I think HTC had odd not-quite-miniUSB connectors), still happened with fast charging protocols in the microUSB era and which, of course Apple have been doing with lightning from ~2017 (when they could have gone to USB-C to match the Mac) until - by some strange coincidence - the EU deadline. The world didn’t need the EU’s “approval” to use a connector that was already gaining mass adoption around the world
You know who disputes that gaslighting is a symptom of trolls? Gaslighters.mmmm, toxic and gaslighting, look at all those instagram meme words.
They advertise fast data transfer on the pro phones, and they specifically tie those things to the pro phones. They dont say that all USBC can do that so that's like saying that because the V8 Mustang is more powerful, Ford is trying to hide that the V6 Mustang isn't as powerful.
I bet its also apparent if you do the compare iPhone thing on their site.
Totally meme-worthy, you should post that on the socials... for likes. You know who disputes that gaslighting is a symptom of trolls? Gaslighters.
