I wish they would just add an express checkout desk with a line and cash register... Cant tell you how many times I have gone to the Apple Store to buy something and end up waiting behind someone that is socializing rather than buying something...And God forbid I choose to pay with cash...

IM looking forward to this coming out in Australia. I'm on the west coast so shipping typically takes longer to here, and the apple store isn't that far of a drive for me. I'd have taken this option for the ATV4 orders, i'd have had it presumably since friday, instead i am still waiting for it....

Its delivery in The Netherlands, and if it's in stock it is delivered next day.

Dream on... still having nightmares of this black box supposedly ordered on monday, shipped on thursday and handled by the "demons" of DHL Express.

I would rather have pickup in e.g. Dusseldorf, which is across the border, but one hour drive.

friend of mine said it totally sucks cuz u r still left in the same line as people just waiting for whatever.
I used this on Friday to pickup a game controller for the ATV4, my experience was:

-Ordered the controller on my iPhone using the Apple Store app while at work, TouchID for ApplePay
-Walked approx. 5 feet into the front of the store where a store representative was standing
-Store rep greeted me and asked if I needed any assistance
-Informed the rep I was there to pickup an online order
-Rep directed me to another rep 4 feet to my left (no line)
-Rep #2 asked if I had the email with me which indicated my item was ready for pickup
-Brought up the email on my iPhone, zoomed in on the Qcode in the email
-Rep #2 scanned the Qcode, verified the details and submitted the request to rep #3
-Rep #3 came from the stock room with the item to rep #2, took approx. 3 minutes (store was busy)
-Rep #2 bagged the item, had me sign for it, and asked if I wanted an email receipt
-Walked out of the store with my item

NEXT DAY delivered to your home?? Oh you must be mean to PAY $$$$EXTRA for next day delivery, which definitely costs a lot more. That money could be better spend on apps and movies.
Most countries outside of the USA offer free next day delivery, here in the UK it's free next day delivery once you have spent £50.

Delivery to your home (or place of work if your in the position to do that) is good, but if your near a store or urgently need it then surely the possibility of collecting in store in convenient.

Not everyone is going to see the benefit of it, but some people might and a wider range of options for the convenience of customers is always a good thing.

Just about every other major high street retailer in the UK offers a form of click and collect at their stores - apart from Apple. That's just crazy and it's about time they changed it PDQ.

Good thinking Henry, more money for Apple.

Yeah. This is great. Apple Stores are frequently horrible experiences for people who know exactly what they want and want it quick.

Tell me about it. Recently spent 30 minutes in there just waiting to see a sales person. All I wanted was an iPad case. Why on earth they can't just have regular tills for people buying small items is beyond me.

How so? I've used it twice this year and was in and out of the store in 15 minutes.

Just my experience with the two times I have used it. Passed around to 3 staff members to simply pick up my reserved items. I think Apple is over thinking and segmenting staff duties too precisely on some simple staff duties. The store traffic is way lower than in years passed - almost empty. I miss the hyper excitement of days gone by, especially since the service was not that muck quicker. OMMV I'm sure.

Personal Pickup is a great service. But if your item is in stock, why should it take 1 hour before it's available for pickup?
I had the most stupid customer experience at a local store once.
I wanted to buy something from their store and whilst they had it right there, the online store was cheaper, so I went and asked a clerk if they could price match the item for me, but all he said was that they can only price match with regional in-store offerings, reiterating that it was "their" (the chain's) OWN online store, he refused again, offering me to place an online order with store pickup as delivery option, so I did that and had to wait 30 minutes to be able to pick it up.

I felt stupid, knowing that it's probably nothing more than an automated system merely sending a FAX or email to the store confirming my order.
So I had to sit there in their online pickup area and wait for the pickup email notification.

What a joke.
If you ask me, an email should be sent out to the store immediately to make the item ready for pickup.

I understand that sometime they want to make sure the item is actually still in stock for real and then reserve it, pulling it physically from a shelf if need be, but my God, why can't I "take the risk", especially when I already know for sure the item is there or there is no reason to expect it's not there.

To hear Apple will need 1 full hour for the same shenanigans sounds laughable.

Roll on international countries .. ...

I dunno when the last time i been to an Apple store... 4+ months now since i order all my Apple gear online..

Besides if you gotta do other stuff anyway, u may as well detour and drop into your nearest Apple store. Chances are it will be on the shelf. And if its not, well... enjoy the sun :D

That's a good news.
I don't like dealing with couriers and I live near an Apple Store but if I want to buy a refurbished product I must do it online.

How is this convenient?
Order online, next day it's delivered to your home.
I do understand that in some cases it can be convenient, like, if you are lucky to live nearby to a store, or you pass it on your way back to home.
But, most of us don't live near to an Apple store, there are only 460 of them.

Around here, UPS delivers whenever... when they say "delivery on Monday between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m", it's pretty common for the package to arrive 2 days later at 8 p.m. (yes, outside UPS's delivery hours). If you're not at home, they put it back in the UPS depot, which is a 2 hour drive and has the worst office hours ever. People avoid UPS like the plague around here for this reason.

If you work a normal day-job and have a spouse that does not sit and wait at home all day, you're screwed.

DHL rocks, you can get stuff delivered to the nearest "packstation" (there's lots of them in bigger cities) and you get a text message on your cell phone with a pickup code.

But, we will still get told: “please stand by the iMacs and wit for someone to come to you” and we wait for half an hour, to then be told “please stand by the iPhones”.

I made the mistake of visiting the Bullring store one Saturday a few weeks ago. I'm not joking when I say there were so many people in there I could not move. It must have been a fire hazard. I just gave up and walked out. It's the same every Saturday at the Liverpool One store. The main problem seems to be the stores that have 2 small showrooms connected by a glass staircase at the back. Other stores like Eldon Square Newcastle which have one larger showroom on one floor don't seem to be as bad.

I pass two on the way home every evening... although the 5th Ave store is an infernal madhouse that clearly Dante envisioned.

If you have access to the item in question - ie can pick it up from a shelf - then you can buy it yourself without a salesperson using the Apple Store app.
