It's cool that Apple's playing catch up, but I am sure that Google is working on things for Maps that Apple isn't thinking of yet.

Something that I found quite shocking when Look Around first came to Canada was that Apple had done exactly that up here. Granted, there are far fewer highways up here than in the United States, but Apple had taken the trouble to record nearly every mile of every major and minor highway south of the tree line, even up into obscure small towns in Northern Ontario. When Look Around went live, it was for pretty much ALL of Canada, not just a few major cities.

I figured it was only a matter of time before it repeated that experiment elsewhere.

Interesting!
Because it's the same in my region where Germany, France, and Switzerland meet - even little villages and forest roads have Look Around (and in Germany Apple had it while StreetView was basically non-existent until this year).

Three years ago I was in my front yard when an Apple mapping vehicle with an array of cameras on the roof drove past obviously recording the view. Still no Look Around for my town.

Good to know. Hopefully it will cover more cities and countries in the near future.

Until Apple Maps gets better about the accuracy of listed businesses (missing long operating ones, listing long gone ones, showing inaccurate location of business), none of these other features matter much to me.

I still try it once in a while hoping it has improved, but in short order encounter one of the above mentioned issues and go back to Google Maps.
Apple Maps is one of my most used apps. I often file reports to correct listings in my city / neighborhood. Because so many businesses are invested in their Google reviews, they’re more likely to claim their business in Google Maps over Apple Maps. I think this is the reason for the issues you’ve raised.

I followed an Apple Maps car through my suburban neighborhood last year on my way home. It had cameras on top of it. Still no look around in my neighborhood yet, but I’m guessing they’re going to roll that out in a lot of places all at once. They must have been collecting data for a while.

Maybe they can focus on making maps work correctly. I gave apple maps a chance this weekend and it took me across the street from the address i provided it. 😂
Sure, that happens. Google used to put my address on the wrong physical street and insist on it was in a different city (although the physical location it gave for us was wrong but at least in the right city).

I gave up on food delivery.
