I never got this email, and I am part of the iOS and Safari dev programs. No critical data to worry about, but it would've been nice to get a notice. All my information is correct in my dev account.

Obviously it's not happening this time around, but do you think the Yosemite public beta suggests the public might get iOS betas in the future?

No. For one thing there isn't really an iOS equivalent of Time Machine. iCloud backup isn't quite the same thing; you can't just restore to an arbitrary point in time.

Besides, Apple have enough iOS beta testers (developers). There are far fewer registered Mac developers.

For me it's more the point that iOS doesn't have a dual boot option, I wouldn't have enrolled in the beta program if it wasn't for this capability/reassurance.

Don't you think that it would make more sense to release beta 3 straight after this cloudkit wipe and not one day after?

It seems that Apple just wiped out the data. 5 mins ago I had to re-login to iMessage, Facetime and iCloud on OSX 10.10 and iOS 8 and now around 5GB from my iCloud storage space are becoming free.

This happened before when Apple was preparing for a transition from Developer Preview to the fixed ( being no more drastic changes or new elements ) builds.

This tells me 10.10 will have the dark theme come Tuesday.

Dark Theme has been there from the start... but can only be accessed via terminal.

1 - open terminal by searching for it in spotlight cmd + space
2 - Type sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences AppleInterfaceTheme Dark
3 - Enter the password you use for the OS
4 - Restart

If you want to change back when you find it gets annoying because the icons have not been designed for dark theme yet just go through steps 1 - 4 again but use "Light" instead of "Dark" in step 2

Enjoy

Is anyone else seeing an indication of this?

Here is a comparison of yesterdays and todays view:

Yes it seems the wipe occurred last night, and syncing is currently paused for iCloud. Good.

This means it will start fresh with iOS 8 beta 3 and Yosemite DP3
