Meh.... it's a PC, nothing different from the others. It looks a lot like the Dell M1330 to me.

What's the difference between the IdeaPad and their Thinkpads? 😕 Are the IdeaPads just cheaper versions of their ThinkPads? I don't think Lenovo should start going the "cheap" route. Their rep for high quality has gotten them pretty far despite their higher prices.
Anyway, I want this.......Sony TZ.
I have only seen and tried this laptop once at a Sony Store, and I was in love. Absolutely perfect size. Although it was only 1" smaller than my old 12" PowerBook, it seemed to be much, much smaller than I remember my 12" PB. Oh, and the 11 hour battery life is wonderful. 😉

As the owner of an eeePC I can say that having a super small laptop is very very nice. Not only can you use it for crap tasks (like transferring hundreds of gigs of data from old usb 2.0 drives) but its awesome to travel with. You don't even know its there and if it gets broken your out $400 verses $2500. I really like having a mini notebook and if apple came out with one Id get it asap.

But they'd probably charge WAY too much for it. Can you imagine what they'd charge for a 8.9 or 10 in AIR? It'd be ridiculous.

exactly why it's never going to happen! Apple rarely ventures into the "inexpensive" end of the market.
Anyway, I suspect that Apple may have decided that the iphone & ipod touch are their entries in the mobile internet device market

Abstract, when it comes to small full featured laptops the Sony TZ is still the reigning champ. I got to use one at CompUSA and a good friend of mine has one and whips it out of his jacket pocket every chance he can get.
The battery life is as stated with the extra large battery pack. And contrary to the way the Air is marketed, the keyboard and screen are the perfect size for a machine of that size.
Did I mention that it has a DVD drive and Sprint Mobile Broadband built in? I hope I did.

Triple Booting MSI Wind

I agree with many others, the reason I didn't go with the Air is that even though it was light, the overall form was too big...opening up a 13 inch notebook on a plane is suicidal... I've used a 10 inch Panasonic R4 for 3 years...2.2 lb...6 hr battery...just right...however, it runs XP...sigh. I'd order an 11 or 12 inch Mac laptop in an instant!

Though making an Air-ed out 10" would be either:
very uneconomical: cramming a motherboard (plus some decent, iMovie-worthy parts) into something nearly as thin as the Air would probably make the feature+power to cost ratio even worse than the Air.
OR very slow: to keep the price down, even a very industrious company like Apple HAS to find cheaper parts to meet the selling price.
A MacBook-thick 10" would do. Even an 11" would be (and feel) a lot smaller than the "thinner" 13" Air. Less ports sacrificed, Apple can keep the optical drive (though optical media are losing their relevance), and probably less cooling issues.
Or Apple has a game-changing iTablet up their sleeve. 😎

Good lord please, no more mini, micro, akoya, eepc, aspire one and anything with screens less than "12. People your killing your eyes. Seriously you better buy a good pda, iphone, blackberry if you really need to be online all the time and everywhere but it seems people intentionally buy them for home use as well. Please Apple spare us.
Don't forget the display resolution would be lower than that of current MacBooks, which means iLife and even iWork may have problems fitting into that resolution.

Apple should look out for that, should they make a Mini Air, though there are many 11" WXGA screens out there already.
Though I think Apple will never really go that path (the 10" Air). After touting the full-sized keyboard of the Air as essential, the 10/11" inch way is pretty unthinkable. And how can you get lower than the MBA's already not-very-powerful 1.6 C2D?
This is where the iTablet comes in... with some really far out features/looks that will polarize consumers. Polarizing or revolutionary products like the iPod, the MBA, the toilet-seat iBook, the G3 iMacs (maybe even the iPhone) are what defines Apple's "Think Different" slogan.

I think they did think different with the MBA, most wanted something else. Apple thought otherwise and gave us a slim laptop.
I'm sure a 11" 1280·800 display would do fine. Lower would be a concern.
There's still space on the sides of the MacBook Air's keyboard. So I'd say 11" is possible barely.
Speaking of the Air's empty space on the sides of the keyboard, why won't Apple put MBP-like speakers there instead of the mono AND asymmetric variety that's in the Air now?
