I'd absolutely love the new Mini 5 if Apple could equip it with a better camera that also includes a flash. I suppose if they did that, the iPad Mini might make inroads into the sales of other iPads, but it would be perfect for those of us that use iPads for work everyday.

Having a device that's nearly as capable as my iPad Pro, but smaller - and yet, a bit larger than a phone - would be awesome. Adding Pencil support is fantastic, now please add a better camera and the Mini would be perfect! :) :)

They'll probably give the iPad mini 6 a better camera. At least if it ever comes out...

The Mini 5 is like the Mini 2 in terms of being up to date with its specs at the time of its release. Following a pattern that the following release doesn’t change much, maybe the Mini 6 will be like the Mini 3 and instead of Touch ID, the minimal upgrade will be the camera.

The Mini 5 camera is fine for things like photographing any documents, but in terms of taking pictures that might be ones I’d want to keep, for me it has only done the job in the garden with the better light that that brings.

The refreshed iPod touch that came out this morning with the A10. Hopefully it has 2 gigs of RAM though or it wouldn’t make any sense to buy at all in my opinion

Dang, I wasn’t aware of that. Still no Touch ID either.

I think the Mini 5’s camera would be great for people that are in real estate.

I would’ve bought the iPad mini 5 if it had a better camera with flash. That was actually the biggest issue for me. I’m not going around taking photos with an iPad outside the house. However, I use my iPad cameras a lot around the house, mostly for random photos of my family (and cat!) when my iPhone isn’t nearby. Also, I use my iPad for scanning a lot. Without a better camera this upgrade wasn’t worth it for me. Maybe next time though, if they include this improvement.

i returned mines because the camera was worse than the ipad mini 1.. i know people don't use their ipads for cameras but for $450, and its 5 places newer and the camera was like VGA quality...my iad mini 1 can take low light photos easily, can take HD video easy.. i think its an actual bug in a batch or early batches

OP is going to be that awkward dude taking picture with his iPad.

iPad Photography - and I’m even talking about biggest ones - is actually really good: the large screen is great if you want to compose your shot and it offers a much more detailed preview than your phone.

Unfortunately, YouTube and certain websites (like the Verge) decided one day (years ago) it is not “cool” and they started shaming anyone who takes photos on their iPads, and now this position became the popular opinion.

Look at it this way, compared to a bulky, pro DSLR, most iPads are even not that big and certainly not as heavy - and yet, do you find passionate and pro photographers who take pictures with their DSLR cameras awkward?

There is no logic behind this iPad photography ridicule.

I like using iPads to take panorama pictures because they have a wider field of view.

IF Apple ever does make a ipad mini 6, i would imagine it will finally get a similar design as the ipad pro with face ID & apple pencil 2 support. If that happens, i am sure it will also get a better camera. BUT since it took Apple nearly 4 years to update the ipad mini the last time, who knows if they will ever update it again. I hope so, as it is one of my fav size ipads for travel.

And arguably the ipad mini is the LEAST ridiculous ipad to take photos with! Lol. I mean holding up an ipad mini to take a pic is not as bad as holding up a 12.9” ipad for sure.
