You have the wrong thought process and i'm bit shocked your believing any electronic tech, whatever it is, doesnt hold its value like your thinking. Tech is advancing faster then you think. Can i ask your age? I have a son that acts like this with wild delusional thoughts of gadgets. Go outside for a 5 mile walk and breath some fresh air and get on with things.

I am one of the many who bought the M4 MBP with 24GB and 512GB the week it came out. And now a year later I feel ripped off. Because Apple is selling the exact same model but it now has the M5 and a 1 TB SSD. Going from a 512GB to a 1TB SSD is something that they usually sell as an upgrade for $500.

On top of that, with this new release it greatly diminishes the resale value on my M4 MBP. Probably dropped by $500 within the last 24 hours. Has anyone tried getting a credit or gift card reimbursement from Apple?
A whole year later? If it was a week ago I could understand but this is absurd. Upgrades always reduce the resale value. This is just part of buying computers and technology. It’s a standard thing people accept

I forgot to add, when I bought my first iPhone (the 5c) and it became a paperweight before the 6s came out. I didn't immediately start to think about suing Apple because of a faulty iPhone that didn't last two years.

I bet this is just a post to get attention, but still, it's amusing. I hope the OP comes back to defend himself/herself and their reasons they posted this post in the first place.

really? you know, computers have been "upgraded" on a somewhat yearly basis for like 30 years, and guess what, today they are cheaper than ever ... I hope you will never ever buy a brand-new car, cause you'll be in for a big surprise ...
And, Apple, I would like you to continuously reimburse me every time you release a new computer.

What I’m saying, Apple, is I want infinite free computers forever. And, I don’t think that’s too much to ask for.

Exactly. If they REALLY cared about resale value, they would have sold their Mac when M5 was teased on Twitter.

Not even sure where to go with this…
Welcome to the world of tech and computers, I guess?
Walt until you buy a car if resale value is your concern.
I think everyone else covered the rest.

I think 5 months after I purchased my Intel MBP for nearly £3k they said they were ditching Intel. It’s just the way tech works. As long as the company continues to support the product for a reasonable amount of time you can’t ask for much more. Although I didn’t always agree with Apple holding back some features from Intel in the early days.

Yeah, but you know, at least the M4 macbook pro came with a charger. Gotta be worth $500.

Can’t believe this thread is still opened after 6 or 7 pages. There’s no discussion. This is how tech and marketing work.

You're kidding aren't you... Manufacturers are constantly evolving products and Apple is no different. It's been a year since you bought your machine which I guesstimate to be about 25 years in the tech realm. Swallow your ego and be happy with what you have, or buy a new machine.
