Hi all,

recently I wanted to try Apple's Podcasts app (iOS 15.2, latest updates) after using Pocket Casts since forever. Generally, I like what I see. But I can't figure out how often Apple Podcasts checks for new episodes? It doesn't seem to use server-side instant push notifications (like Pocket Casts), since I generally get the new-episode-notification a day after release. So, is it a 12- or 24-h-interval, and can that be set to a higher update frequency?

On a related note: With Apple Podcasts, whatever settings I try, I only get lock screen notifications about new episodes. I'd prefer a badge notification, but that doesn't seem possible?

Thanks,
learjet

Did you ever make the full jump to Apple Podcasts? I have recently started looking at it myself, long time Pocket Casts user, and also like how it works.

No, I didn't, because Pocket Casts new episode notifications arrive instantly, every time. Apple Podcasts notifications arrive with a significant delay, at least for me (sometimes between 12 - 24h later). And I'd miss some additional features of Pocket Casts, skip silence being one of them.

I ended up sticking with Pocket Casts myself, felt there were too many features that I use not available in Apple Podcast.
